I know I'm a smartarse on here most of the time, but I'm being serious when I say that I don't immediately see why "transracial" should be treated any differently than transgender. In both instances, the person claims to be different than they externally present. Philosophically, I don't know why we'd favor transgender over transracial in terms of legal/societal recognition. Thoughts?

Both are mental disorders. They should be recognized and treated as such. Most people quit playing make believe after they grow up unless it’s in the privacy of their own home.

Like I said I'm not trying to be a smartass in this thread. The basic rationale for recognizing transgender would seem to apply to transracial. It's points up some real underlying tensions in liberal ideology.
Dude, there is no such thing as transracial. Just because I 'want to be black', and 'identify' as such doesn't mean I am. Maybe I can identify as 25 and stay on my parents' insurance. That is no less idiotic than 'transracial'.

Oh, and she is a moron. Like volfanhill said, she is worthy of ridicule. Too bad the late night comedians are too gutless to go after her. It would be gold.

Can I identify as 70 and collect social security and Medicare?

Awesome! I identify as African American and I want reparations! Is that what you mean?

What, you mean you can’t just make up anything you want anytime you want just because you feel like it? What kind of liberal are you? Your liberal license is now revoked!

Well hold on... that is your first mistake. "We" do not give either one any credence. Most intelligent people believe that a man is a man and a woman is a woman regardless of how that person "feels". That is just simple and basic biology. But those that abuse and distort this simple concept will obviously consider race a fluid concept. The discussion itself is a travesty.

wow... 🤦‍♂️

The world isn’t fair. We need to stop trying to make it “fair” over some dumbass perceived slight against some entitled idiots.

Rachel Dolezal is unemployed because she has made herself unemployable. It’s her own fault.

Serious question. What did she do to make herself unemployable?

Agree. I think transracial might end up having a negative connotation on not only transgendered people but also black people.

If someone born male says "I have always felt like a woman trapped in a man's body. So I wanna be recognized as a woman." Fine, I agree to recognize her/him as a woman. I couldn't care less. But why do we say no when a white or black person says they've always felt their skin color is all wrong and they wanna be recognized as someone from the other race because they've always felt "black" or "white"? But liberals refuse to recognize them as their preferred race. That seems to be a patent contradiction. Gender and race are both protected categories under title vii. Why are we saying ok with one but not the other?
