Is this the year we begin...

If the offense plays how it is capable of playing (basically we stay healthy) we can beat anybody next year. Especially If we get Patterson. Georgia is overrated and I always feel like we can beat USCjr.

that's cute and all. and you can duck the question all you want.

but, you just saw two teams go the entire season, with mediocre qb's (at best) and mediocre passing games (at best), and beat the ever living crap out of everyone except each other because they were so clearly dominant on the line of scrimmage.

so, the question is just a tad relevant

Sensitive?

Yes we start our climb. Not only do we have studs all over the starting lineup we finally have some committments to back up these starters. UT hasn't had many SEC caliber players and they for sure haven't had any depth for some time now. With what we have in Knoxville now and with what we have on the way to Knoxville, we should start beating our biggest rivals again. If not, Hart will make serious changes next year.

We start making our climb this year if we can stay healthy. The teams depth has talent but is young. The speed of Ark, Fla, GA , line play of ALA, SC really exposed us last year.
The schedule is favorable but is also a long way from being easy. I wish they could swap GA and FL, GA always seems to be sluggish in the beggining of season. With a couple of breaks, no major injuries.......9 - 10 wins is very possible.

No, UT will forever be a bad team. Poor us.

Wrong the Vols have won more and won big in my life time I fully expect the last 3 years to be just fleeting bad dream and the return to the winning ways I have been used to for the majority of my adult years. I refuse to be a glass half empty fan, I choose to remain optimistic the the next player, the next class, the next play is going to be the one that turns it all around. My opinion is if one wants to wait for the next shoe or bad thing to fall and do nothing but complain should go cheer for someone else.

It all starts in the trenches.

We should be better this year but we'll know we're getting alot better when we start seeing great linemen coming to Tennessee on a consistent basis.

I still think alot of people are overexpecting our results and are overvaluating our current roster.

The fact is that we still don't have alot of SEC talent or depth at at many positions.

Quality depth that does know what they're doing on every play still isn't field ready but CDD is getting us there despite how bad our program had become.

I wish people would stop saying this could be the last year for CDD because that's simply not true and would have us starting all over again which would doom us for another 5 years because there's not 1 really great coach/recruiter that that would want to come to Tennessee when a program is still in serious rebuilding mode and the AD won't give at least 5 years to turn things around.

Every single really good football program in the country DOES have their down years and has to rebuild just like what we're going through.

It starts with recruiting and CDD has done a good job considering everything going against us and what he walked in to but we are getting some solid recruits every year and once we win the SEC East again and get the spotlight of National TV in the SEC Championship game again then we WILL get alot more attention from the top recruits in the nation just like we used to do.

We're fighting our way back up but it's a longer process than most around here want to admit and overexpecting and callingt for a new HC when nobody good wants to come here isn't going to help us at all.

I hate having to be patient as much as anyone but I'm old enough to know how these things work.

I want is all NOW too and so did the LSU and alaBubba fans during their down years.

You are blind, correct??

REFS did not cause UT to have 58 men on the goal line against LSU. They also enforced the proper rule against UNC.

Injuries did not cost us the UK game, the FLa game, the USC game, and the Ga game. The contributed, but were not the deciding factor.

Please stop looking to lay blame on other factors...

How in the world did the refs enforce the right rule in the UNC game?!? If you paid attention to all the replays you would see that in one replay for a brief second it showed the holder and kicker lined up behind the qb, which gave them 13 lined up ready for the snap. They weren't running off the field like the other two or three were that was shown in the main replay. So to me that should've been illegal participation and fifteen yards instead of just the measly five yards that they enforced.

The turn around actually started in 2009. Lincoln's missed field goal against "O Bama" caused us to not have an 8 - 5 season.
In 2010, we should have had a record of 8 - 5, but the referee's cost us the two games.
In 2011, we should have had a record of 10 - 3. Inuuries cost us the game against Florida, USC and UGA.
Poor performance cost us the Kentucky game and a chance to play Wake Forest in the bowl game.
We are ever so close to getting past the hump.

If, if's and's & but' s were candies and nuts......
