United States beat Mexico, 55-0, in Junior World Championship tournament - Cleveland.com

"We watched Canada play New Zealand and they handled New Zealand pretty well," said quarterback Bryce Petty, who completed 6 of 8 passes for 136 yards and two touchdowns. "But, in all honesty, we've handled the last two games pretty well, too. We've been gunning for Canada all along, with them being seeded number one and us number two. I think it will be a great game."

Wait, Canada is the #1 seed? What an indictment on the level of talent on the American team.

Actually, I think this is the first time the US has had a team in the Junior World Championship. Canada is #1 because they've won the tournament the last few times. Japan is supposed to be pretty good too.

That said, the US team probably should destroy all of those teams.

Yeah, Canada has won the last few tournaments and the USA is fielding their first team IIRC.

The RB from VT has been tearing **** up.

LOL @ Blanking Mexico (Not that it would be a surprise)

You should have seen the beatdown the US put on South Korea in the 2007 World Cup(yes, there is an American football World Cup). 73-0. We beat Germany, one of the best teams in the world, at least internationally, 35-7.

We won the 07 WC over Japan in double OT. You can gather that we didn't exactly send our best team.

If anything, with all of those Strongest Man competitors coming from Germany, Austria, Australia and Sweden and wherever, they should at least be able to have a few people in those countries that could play on the o-line or d-line.

Constantin Ritzmann and that German guy from NC State come to mind.

We sent a team full of guys who didn't make the Shriner's(sp?) Bowl.

The Germinator is the only guy I could think of that played in Germany, but I think he played on military base teams in high school there and was actually American, I believe.

No, he was a German. You may be correct on how he got started in football or he may have played in some sort of NFL Europe development league. "Handegg" never caught on over there, but it was mildly popular in Germany. I know he was recruited or "discovered" by scouts somehow before he moved and boarded at the FL Christian school he attended.

USA Football's quarterback Bryce Petty, a Baylor recruit, completed all of his pass attempts (14-for-14) and threw for 190 yards and three touchdowns.

"It has been an amazing experience," said Petty, whose three-game totals in the tournament were 25-for-30, 382 yards, six touchdowns and no interceptions. "I can't even put into words what this has been like. I am extremely blessed.

Looks like he had a great run...good for him!

Only one SEC recruit on the entire roster.... What does that tell us about the level of talent on the USA Team in that championship..

I watched the Japan / Mexico game and was not impressed. Japan had a little guy at wide receiver that might play well in Division if he doesn't get injured in the 1st game.

Interesting how the only SEC recruit was a SCjr recruit. The scrubs always seem to get to play at the fairgrounds in Columbia with the infamous Vizer Coach.

Japan's team........

5'7 QB
5'9 DT

LOL

Most people will tell you that the Japanese team is very small, but damn, they're quick. Japan is also one of the top teams in international competition. They gave the US team hell in the 07 World Cup final, taking us to double overtime before we beat them.

Picture the 80's Houston Oilers run n' gun offense. That's basically what Japan runs.

how many japan team players could really start with any team in the sec?

Nobody talent wise, but a few internationals that I think would be pretty good in some level of football here would be Joachim Ullrich of Germany.

Yuichiro Araki of Japan's JWC team has certainly the size to do some things.
