....the end?

Terrible loss for Martin coming off a subpar football signing day. Reminds me of Buzz's loss to UTC day after Vols lost to Auburn in 04 seccg. Fans already had a bad taste in their mouth. To me, that was the day the fans were done with Buzz.

Cuonzo will get another year but my point is that this loss was huge for fan psyche. This was a bad team that we played tonight.

What are we?

How many "beginnings of the end" have we had the past decade? The sky has fallen multiple times and we're now experiencing the post-apocalypse.

I've seen enough of Martin personally. Only hope he has is if Robert Hubbs turns out to be an All-American (no hyperbole here), Maymon comes back healthy, and Stokes stays.

He better find a true PG and fast for next season. He'll get next year, but if no improvement, then let's start over again.

It's the end of this season. Martin will be lucky if 10,000 show up the rest of the way.

He's had injuries to deal with, but this team doesn't do one thing well right now. That's on Martin. This team looks clueless on offense and when they aren't playing defense then they barely can win because they don't take care of the ball. That's a recipe for a sh*t team.

I don't know but I won't be going out of my way to watch this crap any more this season. Hope next year is better.

Maybe we can lure Shaka Smart to Knoxville

Had our chance to hire a winner. Instead, we went bargain shopping with mid major mike.

That's what kills me. We hired DD, paid him 11 million for three years. That's nearly 4 mill per. That's Saban money spent on a buster. Went same way with Martin. We are going to fire him next year and with his buyout he will have made around 9 mill.

We could have had real coaches for that amount but we tried to find a hidden gem. I mean, if you get lucky and the hidden gem can coach, you've got to pay big anyway. Why not pay on the front end instead of saddling the UTAD with buyouts?

You do realize we're playing without two All-SEC players right now right? Take away two All-SEC players from the other teams and see how well they're playing right now.

Nothing you said is wrong. I totally agree. Just remember, you say 'we,' but one man did all this. One man is in charge of all those mistakes you just mentioned.

The stench of Mike Hamilton has not been swept out of Knoxville yet. This was more evident today than ever, with the signing day kind-of-disaster and this game. He lucked into Pearl the way a blind squirrel finds a nut. The rest of his hires were ****.

Excuses. That's all we hear now.

You realize that the SEC is terrible? UT deserves better. I'm not ashamed to want more from our coach and team.

Speaking from a personal point of view, I wish there were a way we could pay Tom Jurich like 5 billion dollars to be our AD. He does such a great job here at UofL.

Dave Hart might do okay, but he hasn't blown away the aforementioned Mike Hamilton stench, where Jurich could probably do that almost immediately.

Maybe I'm just wearing sunglasses. :matrix: I miss being good at sports.

Golden is not playing at an All-SEC level this year. Far from it. However, his absence tonight did hurt. I don't know if it was enough for us to have won. It's not like he has really played all that well since mid-December.

This season is toast. I'd sit Hall and McBee's ass and play the youngsters and get them ready for next year.

Tough times. The losses are piling up, and even the wins aren't all that satisfying.

Sad thing is, this GA team is no better than the ones we've routinely beat up on the last 6-7 years.

This..... Shaka and Brad have turned down great offers from multiple good programs.

Yup. We have no better chance with Shaka Smart/Brad Stevens than I do of marrying Emma Watson or Kate Upton.

Wish for it all you want, it ain't happenin'.

Somebody mentioned UT's 'high character' philosophy in one of the football recruiting threads and said maybe it's time to deal with the devil to return to prominence in football a la Bammer and the Gators. Maybe he was on to something.

I liked Dooley's high character and Cuonzo's is unmistakable, but character and likability doesn't win ball games. I say if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. Bring in Calipari and Meyer...

Wade Houston was a nice guy. He finished last.

Martin has to learn to improvise, adapt and overcome. So far, he has had trouble doing that. Losing Maymon was a huge blow, but he's had all season to adapt. Now losing Golden is another setback. However, Golden hasn't played that well, but he is definitely better than anyone else we have at PG and it keeps guys like McRae at their natural position.

Tonight's disappointing loss fits well with the Vols disappointing season. There are very few reasons for Volunteer fans to be excited enough to attend the rest of the games this season. The Big Blue nation is going to make it's presence felt in Knoxville, TN on February 16th.
