Is this the beginning of the end for Oregon's head coach?

I don't disagree, BUT it's not like there's a huge pool of great assistants and coordinators looking for a job at the same level. Those that are great are locked in pretty well and their next move is a level higher. A HC has to be careful about making reactionary, impulsive decisions with the staff. Plus, there are knowns to him that are unknowns to everyone posting here. That's really the point of the thread
Exactly, Phil Fulmer reacted to the fans and got innovative Dave Clawson & implemented his system without the type of players needed, to disaster results. He & Clawson were recruiting totally different type of skill players. Ended Fulmer's career, never coached again.
He probably could have found a job I think lowly Kansas who was in last place in B-12 tried to hire him. It would have basically been starting all over.

No, he was interested in the Kansas job, but they said no thanks.

He interviewed for the Kansas job. Didn't get an offer, but Arkansas tried to hire him a year later

We could not have drawn a worse team/place/time/temp to play.
Watching them push the #1 ranked team around is easing my pain/anger.
That #1 ranked team had essentially an equal schedule to OSU during hte regular, and only beat OSU by one point and a late game ending slide by Howard. But, OSU, and PSY for that matter, have shown up in the playoffs. If Ga can put down ND today we will have a B10/SEC showdown the last two rounds.

He wouldn’t let Clawson run his offense. Fulmer kept limiting the schemes

Yes I do remember ppl saying Fulmer just couldn't let go and kept meddling, so it may have been that combined with I also heard we didn't have the type of players to run his sets the way he did at Richmond being a big dog in a lower Classification.

Ole Miss didn’t get much for their $
Nope, but look at the coach or nil whatever makes it easier for you. This guy went all in,doing it again this class. He has no idea how to build from scratch. I wonder how much Bryce Brown cost ? How much did he pay Lucy to recruit? How much was his bar tab at Roosters before he bolted? How l9ng was lease of Lexus he put in ditch along with cost of getting shortie home?

No. They win the BIG championship in their 1st year in the conference. They'll be a 12-1 team. They have big time NIL. They'll be good next season, too. They just ran into a buzzsaw today.
They may be and then again if they get the wrong QB, it could go the other way. College is a QB driven league, and they had a player that had 6 years of experience. Who they replace him with will matter, they could go out and buy another that may fit perfectly and then again, the chemistry may never click. Happens in NFL all the time a can't miss that just don't work in a system.

Oregon going to be a 5-7 win team going forward. No way CFP Committee will include them in the playoffs again after getting embarrassed like this.
Then that will happen to us too, then. Nah, Oregon will be a CFP regular most years. Just hope we will too. We got boat raced too. Atleast Oregon won their 1st meeting. Nobody is getting left out based off this years results. Ohio St was by far the best CF team when they stay focused.

They have a really good HC and money to get whomever they want. It's sickening, but it's facts. Just like with us, they caught a really hot and focused team. NOBODY was going to beat Ohio St when they played like they did in the CFP

then how did they lose to Michigan at home ?
How did we lose to Arkansas? How did Ala lose to Vandy and get blown out against Oklahoma? How did ND lose to N.Ill? They are 17-23 yrs old kids. Nobody stays focused and plays at a high level for 13-16 weeks, especially 17-23 yr olds. Not to mention, matchups play parts in it too. How do we keep losing to an inferior Fla team? Same way Ohio St struggle's with Michigan. It's mental and it happens. We struggle with Fla and it doesn't matter how much better of a team we have. It happens.

Lanning will probably be at Oregon for as long as he wants due to their resources and recruiting. I don’t see them winning less than 9-10 games a year for the foreseeable future and will be in the Championship mix yearly. He ran into an OSU buzz saw like we did and that’s not going to happen every year.

Yea I wonder why they said no thanks. Maybe it’s cause he was a mediocre coach at a time when the sec was down, power houses in the geography of the south outside of the SEC was down, our rivals outside of Florida was down. Or that his all star coaching staff was put together by Majors. Fulmer is the most overrated coach in the souths full history of football. Not the SEC, the entire region.

To all the Fulmersexuals in the vol fandom. Most people respect the person that builds something, not rode the coattails to success. Fulmer underachieved more than he ever achieved anything. He’s the reason the downfall of Tennessee started. And I’m going to be honest. The 98 championship wasn’t worth the turmoil we went through that he started and ultimately finished with the hiring of Pruitt

Ducks are in good shape at QB next year with Dante Moore, Austin Novosad and Akili Smith Jr. in the QB room. Lots of talent and a couple guys that can clearly make the plays. Dante can do magic, Austin is a bit like Justin Herbert and Akili is a bit like his dad. So Plenty of talent.

Plus, it looks like we will be bigger and more physical on the O line next year. Honestly, I think we just might be better next year than we were this year.

Ohio St doesn't have to play Oregon next year unless they meet Oregon in the B1G championship game or a playoff game. Point is no in conference game between the two next year. Also, no Michigan next year.

The Ducks toughest road games next year are Penn St., Iowa and Washington. None will be easy, just got to take care of business.

Yeah it was. It’s been bad enough that we’re approaching 30 years since our last title, I can’t imagine people saying that it’s almost been 60 years since our last national title .
