is this a redneck car?

No. It's the same as everything else, close as Americans get to making sports cars.

Mustangs, Camaros, Chargers, Challengers, you name it, they're all the same -- They go fast in a straight line pretty well, but that's about it.

The corvette ZR1 would like to disagree.

never been a big fan of a Mustang unless it's a well-restored classic

15 year old base model Mustang with a nice coat of primer is a redneck car. The car you just posted is not a redneck car.

Somebody posted the track test between an M3 and a Ford GT with the track package and the Ford held it's own and won the fun factor.

I think the handling has improved.

My view on the Shelby is I would love to have it but would be a bit self conscious about driving it around. I like stuff subduded and stealthy but that's just me.

I bet it is a blast.

Ford GT and Corvette Z06/ZR1 are the only exceptions I'm aware of. And the handling on those isn't outstanding, it's just decent at best (shockingly enough, considering Corvettes still use leaf springs -- leaf springs on the rear) and overcome it with gobs of power.

And of course Ford won the 'fun factor' over an M3, the GT is a supercar and costs twice as much. It's like comparing a steak at Ruth's Chris to a burger from Red Robin.

FTR, I'd totally own a GT if I had the money. They are by no means the best sports car in that price range and they break alllllllll the time but damn are they pretty.

I thought America made muscle cars instead of sport cars. They are made more for drag racing instead of a road course.

the new Mustang GT handles quite well despite having a live rear axle. Then there's the CTS-V.

I've always viewed Mustangs and Camaros as redneck/teenager cars but this car is speaking to me. What's you thoughts?

Mine.

.....you can't let other people tell you what you want.

Having said that, I would say go ahead and get the GT-500.

The Mustang in the op is bad to the bone but the front end ground effects are overkill.
