The person who sold this MacGregor H612 leather football helmet told me it was a 1940s era Tennessee Volunteers helmet.
I have researched it on the internet but have not found many pictures of it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Tennessee had orange helmets during the 1930's and early 40's. There were white stripes that crossed at the crown of the helmet.

That company made football helmets from 1927- 1979 as MacGregor company.
They absorbed into a current company called Riddel, that is currently still operating under that industry.

I would guess that that helmet is from the 1951 National Championship team. It looks like it.
