The person who sold this MacGregor H612 leather football helmet told me it was a 1940s era Tennessee Volunteers helmet.
I have researched it on the internet but have not found many pictures of it.
This is as close as I've come to finding anything looking like that helmet as far as UT and color scheme. Apparently this style H612 was a pretty popular helmet in the 40's and 50's. Regardless , its a cool thing to possess. Good luck!

That company made football helmets from 1927- 1979 as MacGregor company.
They absorbed into a current company called Riddel, that is currently still operating under that industry.
I would guess that that helmet is from the 1951 National Championship team. It looks like it.
