That the majority of us don’t have the money/influence to see? It just feels like there is something going on here that doesn’t meet the eye for those of us who aren’t connected. Is there booster/AD conflict? Is there state government/UT administration conflict. Is there school administration/ AD conflict. ESPN published a tell all article this week that details the situations that caused FSUs dramatic slide. It makes me wonder what’s going on behind the scenes thats gotten us to this point.

School wants to be Vandy and not Alabama and is on a woke mission.

Football is not the priority at all anymore.

👆👆This. Admin no longer prioritizes athletics. Never mind the actual evidence at Alabama that shows the quality of student pre-Saban vs. their current quality of student. More applications, higher caliber student and their average GPA and ACT scores have continued to go up.

Academians should realize that a strong athletic program escalates the caliber of student by making your school more desirable and increasing the demand for spots in the incoming classes.

Totally confused as to why they feel these two sides of the university do not compliment each other. It is like two dogs in a pissing contest. Until that gets fixed, there really is no hope.

If you read what they are actually saying happened at FSU, it’s nothing but simple human nature. They didn’t pull together. There can be 100 step process of decline, but the decline really was just they didn’t pull together. Instead of working harder, various parties were offended at being told to work harder.

There has been booster/booster conflict, booster/AD conflict, academic/AD conflict going on in Knoxville for going on 30 years now. Too many power hungry people down there refusing to row in the same direction.

Couple that with a couple of arrogant and stubborn coaches in Fulmer and Pruitt, and this program is where it is now.

Can you expound? How has it caused us to end up where we are? Has it caused too much/ too little oversight into the the ADs hiring/firing? Are we not able to take players with marginal academics like before? Is it squeezing facilities spending?

Because unfortunately most don't reside in what is known as the real world...

I was actually aware of what happened at FSU before the article. I have a friend who worked in the AD during most of Fishers tenure and went on to write for WarChant. That’s why it drives me so crazy not to understand the situation in Knox.

This process started in 2002 under Fulmer. Correct, we stopped taking marginal academic students then and have since fallen far behind in the recruiting of that type of player. I think since CPF became the AD it’s trying to loosen back up BUT, is no where it was under Coach Majors and Fulmer in the 90’s. Theirs is 100% fact!

Ok. Who exactly is "the school" , which individuals? Looking at our big booster list, and the state of Tennessee leanings, I see no evidence , at all, of any "woke mission". Sounds more like a really cool cocktail conversation in Brentwood or Franklin.

Our BOD, Trustees, and administrative people made this decision in 2002. Admission requirements changed for the Dale Carter’s, Haynesworth’s etc. partly why coaches don’t want to come here, lack of the number of academic exceptions for athletes. Secondly, we’re you not aware of the “woke” march to the top of “The Hill” this Spring?

It's mostly because the biggest name we've hired other than Majors was Kiffin. Now, Fulmer obviously worked out but that was quite fortunate.[/

Majors built the program; Fulmer ran with what Majors accomplished and let it go on a gradual downhill slide beginning maybe as early as 2001-2002.

I agree.

However, I still have a small glimpse of hope Fulmer is forced to fire Pruitt.

If that happens then we have to lay all our cards on the table and go after the best coaches even if they say no.

This may be our last chance to make a great hire and if Fulmer screws up this search again, the football program will be unfixable.

I only know one person who I would describe as a high ranking administration member. They are a department head who would definitely take offense to me using a gender specific pronoun to describe them. If the rest of the administration is as obsessed with being woke as they are then I can definitely see it.

The entire athletic department is successful or climbing the ladder to success (see baseball). This is a bullish!t theory cooked up to gloss over the truth. The Tennessee brand in football has been damaged in the eyes of the coaching realm. Which has lead to mismanagement of the program further declining the image that we are a good job.

This butt hurts fans and alumni when you tell them this, but when we accept we’re damaged goods we can FINALLY start to fix the issues.

That’s why blowing Pruitt out of here and hiring the RIGHT coach is so important. This program can’t continue down the path of damaged goods.
