Is there something else going on?

If anyone actually thinks Butch would come out and say "THE SKY IS FALLING, WE HAVE SERIOUS INTERNAL ISSUES!" you are crazy. the writing on the wall a rift is in the locker room which im sure happens all over the NCAA. Clicks form, players talk, you can see former players on social media getting involved with the talk now. there is definitely a power struggle going on behind the scenes and unfortunately a good football player decided it was enough to make himself want to pack up and leave a place and team he has been with since he was able to move out of his parents house. regardless of if we think its right or not its a rough day in Knoxville.

I think that "good football player" was the root of the problem... he didn't leave because of it.

I have not one clue what will happen but I don't think this week is done with news from the Vols. Something doesn't feel right.

Regardless of the Hurd situation, SOMETHING is going on with these slow starts and anemic offense

It's sad our badly injured defense has to carry the offense on their backs. D really stepped up in this past game despite missing most of our starters and many of our backups

If I was on the defense, I'd be pissed that my offense is going 3-and-out and leaving me on the field all game. Or giving the other team starting position at our 40 or the 50

It wasn't all about Hurd so he took his ball & went home. If Kingbo left & no one reported it, would anyone know he was gone?

I'm not on here much and try not to be critical but have loved and followed my Volunteers since the Doug Dickey days. I had mentioned in 2015 that we would never go far with Mike Debord (OC) and Josh Dobbs at QB. Got to be more than one dimensional. Beginning to wonder if Butch is just a great salesman not a coach.
I was just curious as to why Butch won't try something/somebody new on offense? Don't care if it's Dormandy or a freshman just somebody to see if they can shake them up. We're clearly in a spiral going down and you would think a coach would be open minded enough to try some thing different??/

Or the defense giving it their all late in the fourth quarter to get the ball back with a chance to win and then Dobbs throwing the Int on the very next play.

What is going on? Alabama fans have sacrificed their souls to the devil to watch us suffer.

It came out after UGA

The thing I don't get is....if Hurd was the problem, and it all came out in the UGA game, why in the world wasn't Hurd benched for the Alabama game, especially after the career game Kamara had against ATM? Kamara earned that job IMHO. CBJ did Kamara wrong.

He hasn't made a tackle in 5 SECgames. This from a guy talking trash to Alabama when he signed. Buy him a bus ticket to Vancouver if he wants one. He'd be out of eligibility by the time he gets home.

I dont like that Hurd quit on his teammates and yeah, he might be soft mentally, but calling him soft physically is dumb. Go back and watch some of that guys run.

The kongbo excuse was complete BS. Something's definitely up

Kongbo has a history of putting things on social media without always thinking it out really well. So, if that is your reason to suspect a conspiracy, you need more evidence before I set a couch on fire.

I don't blame Hurd at all. He's getting beat all to hell behind a pathetic offensive line and at time Butch forgets he has other RBs on the sideline. A player only has so many miles on his legs and he's done, plus if Butch didn't follow through with a promise regarding the I formation to get him to stay last season. Then he should leave and go be a productive player somewhere else

Probably trying to stroke Hurds ego & keep him happy. There's always been some under current with Hurd & it finally boiled over. Seems like from what I'm hearing the atmosphere will be better without him!
Hate to lose him but it's a team sport! We survived 117 years before him, we'll survive without him.

Everybody's happy when you're winning.
Close loss to A&M, no big deal.
Getting a beat-down by Bama was draining.
Players are much less likely to put up with crap after that.
SC game was the result.

I think this is a good analysis. My questions about Hurd started at the Ga. game.

Let's analyze (in a conspiracy theory sort of way):

UGA:
Hurd has easy touchdown. Showboats a tad, didn't see guy creeping up and fumbles on the 1 yardline. Note time: 7:00 left in 2nd quarter. Halftime happens - things get suspect after this.

a) Looks fine on the sideline and sits out.
b)Able to participate in a special teams play and
c)looked happy in the post hail mary celebration.

What happened at halftime? Is that the lower extremity injury.

Next up T-A&M. Hyams said it was a concussion. Huh? Never any clarification from Jones.

Next up: Bama - 13 carries for 28 yards. Can't see any correlation here. Maybe that's good against Bama.

Bye Week.

Draw your own conclusions against South Carolina.

Anyway, that fumble against Georgia looked like a turning point. My guess is that he got an earful at half and it was downhill after that. I could be wrong.

It's because Lyle is an idiot. It's not one or the other, Hurd and Lyle are both team cancers.

FWIW, those were soccer cleats in the pic he tweeted, not football cleats.

One would think with all these 'know it all's' around here, they would be able to tell the difference between soccer cleats and football cleats.

SMDH!!!

There is something else I don't get though.

1.
Even if he did get an earful at half of Georgia game.

I was very impressed with his composure from the bench. He didn't appear in any way negative or to be commiserating. Looked like an ideal team player to me.

Then, I believe it was Kamara, after we scored later, there was no faking his enthusiasm & positive celebration

2.
Hurd scores a TD against South Carolina.

The team does not embrace or celebrate with him. Only one or two players make a token gesture on the sideline. He sits by himself on the bench.

And of course it's been alleged he benched himself for the second half.

There is certainly a disconnect.

I think it will all come out and Butch will resign. Vols will have a new head coach in 2017. In my opinion

I hate to say this but that would be an utter disaster. If UT wants a new HC, I would hope the new AD will do the right thing. Let Butch have next year and take the time to search and interview the right HC for Tennessee. We have seen what knee jerk hires and fires have brought us. Lane Kiffin, Derek Dooley and now Butch Jones.

So for the love of God, I hope your scenario doesnt come true.

Yeah.

This right here guys.
App State
Ohio
South Carolina were a lot better than we understood.

Hurd
Williams
Tee Higgins decomitting
North

It's all these guys fault.

We have nothing to worry about.
I'm sensing the sarcasm. It doesn't make me feel any better about the future. I want to be positive but this staff and the stubbornness make it so hard

I went for a run in Tampa today, ran into Gruden. Saw my Tennessee t shirt and visor I was running in. Talked for a bit. I think I got him on the hook boys! Just let me work this one a while longer and I'll get back to ya. Looking good though.

Yeah hopefully it's nothing but the timing of it and how he deleted so much tennessee stuff off of his profile is kinda weird
