Is there anything left to say...

Jeez, I guess I am supposed to just accept the fact that a once elite program that I love now gets excited about wins against Troy and Akron?

Sorry but I am what they call a fan. That means I don't like losing to every team in the conference.

You're definitely a fan. Fans are notoriously short sighted and reactionary. They only see what is happening right now in this specific moment. They rarely consider the big picture.

Tennessee is not among the elite teams in the SEC right now. We cannot measure ourselves against Alabama right now. Our athletic department has implemented a strategy that it believes will return our program to the upper echelon. We just need to be patient and follow the game plan. We are improving. We have not yet fixed the problem but we're on the right track. It just takes time and it will not even easy. We will suffer some ugly losses and it will hurt our pride.

Consider that it took Alabama 11 years to get back on top. Florida State dominated the 90s but disappeared until recently. Michigan was down for 5years. USC suffered a down period. You just can't be great all the time.

It's no big deal, if you are for keeping or getting rid of Dooley. Each to his own. But for the life of me, I can't see how beating Troy, Mz, Vandy, and K-Y, should ever be a reason for keeping a coach.

That's the thing. Some are arguing that IF we beat those teams CDD should get another year. That should never be the stick by which we measure our program those should be the gimmes every year. We should also never ever lose to the Mississippi States of the world. We've lowered the bar so much that we are actually arguing about whether 7-5 is good enough. I don't see it getting significantly better any time soon.

Can we be decent most of the time? You know, like .500 in the conference? Too much to ask?

We have been decent most of the time. We've only been down for a few seasons and we haven't really been all that bad if you compare us to all conferences, not just the SEC.

Nice. Too much logic to be understood by most, but still nice.

The screamers take that for granted rather than appreciate it.

The last great team we had was 2001. It's 2012. In that time we've allowed a legacy that we all love become complacent and drive this thing into a ditch, had a one year brain fart and a now have a coach who couldn't win in the WAC and has continued in that manner here. If CDD gets another year or two even will we be competing for the SEC Championship? I don't think we will and therefore it's time for a change to build on to what we have and take us to the next level. JMO.

Most of what you have said is correct . However , none of it addresses that the fact that this very team would be 2 or 3 wins better and not in shootouts with the likes of Akron or Troy with a decent coaching staff . So when we reach Bama type depth and talent will we then be a 2 or 3 loss team ?

No, we're seeing what's happened the last 3 years! And we are not comparing ourselves just to Bama. Right now we are about the 3rd or 4th worst team in the conference!! No one was predicting that we would win the SEC this year but we did expect to win a conference game or two and not be giving up 30 first half points to teams like freaking Troy!!!

I disagree wholeheartedly. I do not believe that a new coach would solve our problems. I believe Derek Dooley is the right coach for the job. He took over a team in shambles with no depth and a heap of controversy. Even with all the negatively from the fan base this team hasn't quit. If we get back to the depth and talent we had in the 90s we'll get back to the wins we had in the 90s.

We'll win 3 conference games this year and we'll beat Troy.

If we get back to the 90's talent and 90's wins it will happen under another staff.

Wow, there must be a lots of young pups on here that have never seen what Tennessee football has always been and stood for. For decades we were consistently ranked and consistently were feared by EVERYONE. We could and did beat any of the best teams in the country.

This feeling good about being mediocre and rolled over by everyone in the conference is insanity!

My god...
If the man had a record of success ANYWHERE you would have an argument. The man has never won anywhere...

I sure hope you are not in charge of hiring people.

Does it hurt to be this stupid?? If not, it should.

Why don't you explain to me why my post is stupid cowboy?

We just narrowly beat Troy in Knoxville, just like we narrowly beat Akron in Knoxville.

And have lost to every SEC team we have played, including an overrated MSU team that just got crushed by TX AM.

I think you need to re evaluate how you define stupid.

Is the HC only responsible for Offense and get a pass on Defense? What happened to the Buck Stops Here? I hope the Vowels can survive this downturn, guess we may as well get used to it....not much difference in Wins for the past 5 years....it is what it is, but just give Dooley more time he'll have us winning, cause Dooley's a winner!
