Petersen or Leach weren’t the guy? People may of not been to thrilled over Leach but it would of been 100 times better than what happened. Do you even think we offered either of the two? I can’t believe our AD is still so damn incompetent. I believed the lies of “UT is done fooling around. Going to make a big time hire and be serious about winning” Jeez.

I heard Leach wants the Arkansas or Mississippi State job. I think he’s more interested a job where expectations aren’t near what they are here.

I'm willing to bet Currie never offered or even gauged either. Currie is a Haslem puppet and Schiano was Jimmy's guy. Oh but John and Jimmy had know idea they were about to kick a hornets next today.

In all seriousness I dont either. Why wasnt he the very first one contacted? Currie was obviously an idiot is my only logical conclusion.

I hope Currie enjoyed his trip to the Bahamas. That might very well have been the last thing he gets out of UT.

Well ask yourself:

1 Was this Currie's first search for a football coach?

2 Who are the obvious "advisors" to him we heard about, and who has the most consistent presence?

3 Since Currie didn't OR wasn't allowed to use a search firm, who did the vetting while he was with the basketball team in the bahamas?

4 Why was Schiano suddenly being mentioned as one of three leading candidates when the press was being told nothing until Currie was out of the country?

5 Why would someone accused of inaction so repulsive to southerners be on top of Currie's list when he got back in the country after the regular season game were over for nearly every program? Who had motive to pull it on Mike Hamilton's former assistant?

Petersen was never a candidate. And I have serious doubts if anyone else has been called. Check the other threads, You can figure out the rest.

While we really don't know........it looks like they were going cheap from the get go. Currie prob locked in on Greg the Douche because he had at least some success at Rutgers, was in the NFL, and was the DC at one of the top programs........and he could get him on the cheap.

I really think they thought they could spin this "cheap" hire as some kind of "big" hire...............but I don't really understand their thinking........we were all told they were only looking for someone of the highest integrity.......then they try to throw this at us..........strange.

If you weren't around in 92, you would not recognize it. But when another thread states the administration and the boosters are giving him full support as AD? I gets pretty obvious.

Stop thinking. Just follow the trail. Follow history.

The obvious part is this; Currie said he would make no comment until the hire was made. And nothing credible came out until Saturday. The Washington post story is passed around. And when the hire rumor is leaked suddenly about the guy with an accusation that would offend the entire state about 24 hours later? Who has motive? Who has access? And who has something to gain?

I would not have supported that hire and still will not let my children go to the University of Tennessee

There were better hires and you chose a def coordinator form OHIO State
No thanks
Since the bot and University don’t care about the program my children don’t need to go there

It's simpler than that. Power play by haslam. Schiano is haslams guy. Currie is haslam's guy.

How do you know he didn't try to hire them? You don't. Fact is you don't know anything about this or what was going on behind the scenes. Jeez.
