Is there a better NFL duo from a school

Another poorly informed soul. When Brady tore his knee in early 2008, they didn't make the playoffs.

In most years Manning had far better offensive weapons than Brady has had and it isn't even close

Brady had/has Belichick. Enough said.

Think about 94 when Manning and Helton played QB for the Vols in one game. Don't know if Todd will make the Hall but two greats at two sports. I went to that game as well.

This is the most desperate wishful thinking I’ve maybe ever seen here, and that’s saying a lot.

Brady is probably the majority of America’s pick for greatest QB ever...

When they played, this was said of:

Sammy Baugh
Otto Graham
Johnny Unitas
Joe Montana
Steve Young
Brett Favre
Others over the years

People like to think -- and the media tries to make them think -- that the QB they're watching is the best all-time. Then in a couple years, it's the next one.

Only 3 guys have 3 NFL MVPs: Unitas, Favre and Jim Brown.

Manning has 5 MVPs and was All-Pro 7 times. These are records about the greatness of the man. Not the teams he played with. These records are untouchable.

Brady only has 2 NFL MVPs and was named All-Pro only 2 times. That is, in 5 of the 7 times he went to the SB, he wasn't the best QB in the league.

He's not even the best post-season QB: Bart Starr: 9-1

And at 5-2 he's surely not the best SB QB:

Bradshaw: 4-0
Montana: 4-0
Aikman: 3-1

In Championship Games v PManning, Brady is 1-3.

In 5 years nobody will be saying Brady was best all-time. He was a good QB on a great team. Don't get carried away just because he's playing in your lifetime.

Maybe you should be lecturing the ex-player analysts who almost overwhelmingly say Brady is the GOAT. Very few, if any, make the claim for Manning and didn 't when he was playing.

Don't get carried away with your lecturing because you believe you have the answer as to why people are making the claim. It's obvious you have your criteria. It's also a fact that very few experts share your point of view

You think Brady is only considered the GOAT because he plays in this era. And then you say, in 5 years, Brady will become old news and the consensus GOAT will be another guy from the same era. Wow. At least you're trying...

Brady has 7 Super Bowl appearances and 5 wins. Those are also all-time records. But no one cares about the Super Bowl, right? Only about 100 million Americans watch it; I'm sure twice that many tune in to watch the unveiling of the AP All-Pro team.

The GOAT argument for NFL QBs is completely pointless. Tom Brady and Peyton Manning are both first ballot HOFers and are amongst the best to ever play.

Hardly. In 10 years neither of these guys will be in discussion of "greatest."

Eric Berry (and 50 other guys) better than Woodson.
Champ Bailey had better Off and Def stats than Woodson in 1997.
Woodson All-Pro only 3 times in 17 years.
Ronnie Lott, Deion and Ron Woodson: 6.
Ed Reed: 5
Bunch of DBs at 4.

Brady only has 2 NFL MVPs.
All-Pro only twice. [Vinatieri 3 times; Gronk 4]
This tells you all you need to know: Brady a good QB on a great team.
Never had worse than a top-10 D.
His college stats pedestrian. [Dobbs had 30 TDs as a Senior; Brady 30 in entire college career]
Not highly recruited.
Didn't start till Junior year.
Drafted 199 (6th round).

Manning is 5 time NFL MVP. [Only 3 players have 3: Unitas, Favre, Jim Brown.]
Manning 7 time All Pro - most among QBs. [Otto Graham had 7, when NFL had 12 teams.]
Unitas is next QB at 5.
Both Manning records are untouchable.
Only had 2 great Ds in 17 years.
Manning #1 HS recruit.
#1 Pick in NFL draft.
Started as a freshman in college.
Started immediately in NFL (on a 3-13 team).
3-1 v Brady in Championship Games
Has made more money than any football player in history.

Before you trot out Brady's 5-2 record in SBs and 4 SB MVPs:

> Defenses win Championships
> Belichick best HC since Lombardi.
> Belichick best D coach since Neyland.
> 100 people get SB rings every year
> SB MVP is a silly, one-game award.
> Kicker Vinitieri won 3 of the games and CB Butler won the 4th
> Tuck Rule
> Brady a convicted cheater in 2015 (Deflategate).
> Destroyed evidence. Lied.
> Suspended 4 games for cheating in 2016.
> Kraft paid $1,000,000 fine, lost #1 Draft Pick.
> Pats busted for cheating in 2007 (SpyGate).
> Kraft paid $250,000 fine. Lost #1 Draft Pick.

Ignoring these negatives, all you really have to know about Brady is only 2 MVPs and 2 All-Pros. In 17 years.

Reggie White was All-Pro 8 times.
Only Jim Otto and Jerry Rice (10), and Ron Mix and Anthony Munoz (9) have more.

You're trying too hard. Brady will win out in the qb battle forever. Only Tennessee fan boys will argue that.

Manning isn't in yet. He will be though. Witten likely as well, although not probably in first ballot

I thought Manning was in already. My bad. Both will be first ballot with Witten passing Gonzalez as the best TE in NFL history.

Wow, no. Some insane homerism in this thread

Yeah I know but we need some ****ing homerism at this point instead of dolts like you looking in the mirror patting yourself on the back based on Google searches. Get behind our program dip****! It could very well happen. He’s got at least 5 years to play.

I don't have to think Peerless Price is the greatest WR to ever play to be "behind our program." Anyone that's still a Tennessee fan after the disaster of a decade we just had should be above having his/her fandom questioned.

Witten may retire after this year, he's not playing until he's 40. If any active TE is the best ever, it's Gronk.
