Is the UF defense really that good?

I know they have been dominate. UAB has typically had a pretty decent offense. But, who knows how good UF's D really is? As the old saying suggests, numbers don't lie. Yes, UF manhandled Florida Atlantic. Big deal, Michigan State's defense dominated Florida Atl's offense much more!

Muschamp's D at Texas last year gave up a little more than 30 pts a game in Texas' seven losses! Oklahoma State threw for over 400 yards on Texas' D. I think our pass blocking will be good enough for Bray to have a very big day!

Florida Atl had 48 total yards total offense vs Michigan St!!! They were 0-10 on 3rd down. They got 1 first down the whole game. I posted stats below. I don't think the UF D is as dominant as it was with Charlie Strong.

Florida hasn't played a competent O yet...we haven't played a good D yet....we will see who shows up Saturday.

I think uf's d is a big '?'

The only part of the UAB/UF game I saw. UAB was moving the ball without problem until the Refs bailed out UF on a 30+ yrd TD run.

Didn't watch the FAU game because I was at the openner but I'll say this for the UAB game. UAB looked a lot worse than Florida did good. UAB had some good players every now and then but it always got called back on a penalty or something dumb happened afterwards that was totally their fault. The old "bad teams find ways to lose".

I think UF's defense is good, but I'd relate it more to UT's 2009 defense. Tennessee's defense looked like world beaters against western Ky and UCLA (despite the loss), both could barely move the football. That doesn't mean that the defense was spectacular. It was solid, but not the best defense ever. That was a defense with berry, jackson, and dan williams playing for it that was much more experienced and proven in certain positions than anyone Florida is fielding. Just really reminds me of a similar situation. That said it doesn't mean anything, UFs defense MAY be all that, but I didn't see anything to warrant letting bama or LSU know they've been replaced as the top defense in the SEC.

Exactly what I thought of the UF/UAB game. UAB actually ran the ball fairly well and passed it even better. They had a nice TD negated by a very questionable illegal shift call. Floridas offense looked okay. Rainy is the man, and the other kid, Burton(??) could cause us some problems, other than that, Florida just didn't impress me. I think UT's offense matches up on the line with UF's D,,but UF's secondary is about to get scorched.

I haven't seen the UF defense play a snap this year, so I can't really comment as to how good they might be. However, everyone knows that they have a lot of really good players out there. The real question should be, is their defense better than our offense? I think it's going to be a very interesting game for both Vol fans and Gator fans.

Bottom line, Florida only allowed 3 points in two games.

Florida's defense is doing it's job just fine and is a strong unit. How strong is open for debate.

UF has a very talented, yet untested D. How good they are as a unit remains to be seen.
UT has a very talented, yet untested O. Saturday we shall see how good both units are at this point in the season.
