Is The Swain Event Being Cut Short Now?

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing but figured I just missed the reason he quit. Hell, he had one segment he did in the early hours of the morning just to make deadline. Inky's words are usually great and perfect for teenagers.

If anybody has heard anything, then please share.
More than likely a money issue.

That was hilarious. Swain owning Murf with his ridiculous comments on Barnett was pretty good too.

SMH. Tennessee usually has some of the brightest fans I encounter in my line of work...you have comprehension skill issues.

First of all: What ridiculous comments about Derek Barnett? Are you that lost? I never remotely said ONE negative thing about Barnett. My beef, which I stated about 5 times so you not getting it says a lot, was over anyone saying "take Myles Garrett off the first team" -- when freaking Jordan Jenkins is sitting on there and isn't even the best player at his position on his own team.

As a matter of fact -- I broke the whole thing down on my Arkansas-related show for people who struggle to understand what was going on because they are a fan of Swain. The audio is included and a ton of other stuff that will make you mad. And Swain even cuts a commercial for us at the end...or at least I think it's marble mouth Swain...

lolololololololololololol at ridiculous comments about Barnett. Who wrote this in an article like 6 months ago?:

Derek Barnett (Edge-player): For all the press Texas A&M freshman Myles Garrett received, and rightfully so, Vols’ 6-technique Derek Barnett may have been every bit his equal. The first-year stud racked up an amazing 10 sacks behind some serious athleticism. At 6’3″, 267 pounds, Barnett has prototypical size for an edge-player in a four-man front, however, he has shown the ability to rush from a two- or three-point stance; his size makes him capable of lining up on the inside and causing havoc, as well. -- Murf from article below

I like your articles btw. The one I read yesterday with j Malone was nice because of the embedded video. How bout continuing to break down film like that thru the season? I find it super interesting and I am sure others do as well. Thanks

Thanks, Marcus...However, I didn't just start breaking down film recently. I write for SDS and only did that throughout the entire season.

So if you check with me during the season you will see breakdowns of all the teams I cover, just like last season...

Thanks for the read on the Malone article, too.

I live in Knoxville and can never get 1180 to come in anymore. I'll drive right by the station and still no signal. I have a couple different cars that I drive and have the issue with both. It use to cone in great. I hate missing the show though.

Where is the station itself located?

The studios used to be down in the valley just east of downtown on Central Street near Neyland Drive. They moved to the white building right next to I-40 west just as you exit at Cedar Bluff, but I believe that Cellular Sales purchased that building so they'll probably have to move once their lease is up. North of I-40, east of Cedar Bluff. Basically take the I-40 west Cedar Bluff exit, peel off of the ramp to the right, turn right at the light and it's the second or third building on the right.

We are in the building across the street from the Cellular Sales building. We moved from there in 2013.

Of course TN has some of the brightest fans you encounter, you’re used to dealing with bammers. Get the sand out of your vagina Murf! If you're this thin skinned maybe writing opinion pieces isn't for you because guess what? People are going to disagree with your opinion sometimes! Anyone who listened to the Swain Event that day knows who won that argument.

I never said you said anything negative about Barnett. You said Garrett and Barnett was a wash. That's total BS! This isn't everyone gets a trophy, one is better, there is a winner and a loser. Barnett had the better year against better competition, PERIOD! Swain tried in every way to get you to understand that. Garrett is an elite player no doubt but Barnett had a better 2014!

You make these Bammer people look like Rocket Scientists, man. Gotta love when someone throws out complete lies and receives a retort, then had to go with the "if you're thin skinned then maybe writing isn't for you" as if I just started a week ago and haven't been a full-time writer on multiple major platforms and pulling in compensation from other football related ventures lolololol.

Since you still can't understand what I'm conveying, and seem to be hung up on an "argument," let me break it down for you: trying to talk to me about Garrett vs. Barnett is plain stupid when both deserve to be on the first team over Jordan Jenkins.

Swain was too dumb to get that and wanted to play Mr. homer to appeal to simple-minded fans like yourself, when I wanted to talk about why the player who set the freshman sack record, with 11.5, playing with a bunch of players who didn't even make any of the four projected teams, didn't deserve a spot on the first team.

I said that 5 times and Swain still wanted to talk about who was better between the two who deserved to be there and totally ignored Jenkins. He never mentioned Jenkins one time.

If there are three women at the bar, and two are supermodels and the other is a power lifter in the Olympics -- and all three of them wanted to take you, but you only had room for two, are you going to try and figure out which model has been on more notable photo shoots?

Judging by what you wrote, you and Swain are about to go get your lift on that night.

It's not that complicated, but it is when you want to play Johnny Homer. I'm not paid to be a homer like Swain or speak with surface knowledge of other teams and players.

Barnett and Garrett both deserved that first-team spot considering it's for the TWO BEST EDGE PLAYERS RETURNING IN THE SEC!

And where I'm from, talking over people and continually saying the same thing -- and hanging up the call -- is for 14 year old girls.

So I think we know how I feel about Swain. Any cat who acts like that to another media member is soft and unprofessional.

But anyway, back to business.

I think it's just called debating. You are making a way bigger deal out of it than it really is. People can have different opinions on who is better, because there is no way to really tell definitively. It's not like sprinting or power lifting where there is a numerical figure based on an even playing field to tell who is better. There will always be differing opinions, just chillllllllll.

I don’t know when you started writing because quite honestly I had never heard of you. I thought you were just some idiot calling in to argue with Swain at first.

Maybe they do both deserve to be on first team but Barnett had the better year, simple…. The discussion was never about Jenkins. You started shifting to Jenkins and the players around Barnett and Garrett as Swain blew your arguments out of the water. That’s what people do when their losing an argument.

Again, Sawin's point was that Barnett had a better season than Garrett. Had nothing to do with Jenkins.

He spent time on two different days trying to get you to understand. He laid out it very simply comparing stats and you still couldn’t grasp that Barnett had the better 2014 season, which is what the discussion was about before you started losing the argument and trying to deflect in other directions. He should have hung up on you a lot sooner….

I encourage anyone who didn't listen to the show that to listen to the podcast and decide for yourself who sounded stupid...

Huh? I never debated who was better in the first place, that's what I'm saying. I think you meant to direct that to Swain.

When I originally called I said: I'm here to bring balance, because Myles Garrett and Derek Barnett deserved to be on the first team.

I could care less if a radio host in Knoxville thinks his player is better -- as he should -- I cared that they were telling listeners to take Garrett off when he deserved it, too. Jordan Jenkins over Barnett is where the debate should've been.

Couldn't make it more clear in the call...

Three points that I've pulled out of this....

1. SDS is a joke and so are their writers. They are the Jerry Springer of sports writing.

2. What kind of media writer uses lololol that isn't writing for a middle school paper?

3. What kind of name is Murf? Seriously.

MAYBE they both deserve to be on the first team? Uhhhh...whatever man, you got it. There's no used to even remotely going any further with you if MAYBE the two best freshmen in the SEC deserved to be on the first team.

None of your points were clear on the call.

edit: just so you know "I could care less" implies that you do care. And it is obvious you care wayyy too much, you need to let it go.

1. Thank You

2. I do

3. It's a tribute to my mother's side of the family and a way to honor her and my deceased father -- it's short for Murphy, which I'm sure anyone could've gotten who didn't just want to hate.

But hey, do your thing man.
