Is The pressure on UT to Win?

I think you always feel under pressure to win. If not you become complacent ie. cpf. Kiffin being a freshman coach in the SEC is under tremendous pressure to prove himself as well as the freshmen players he has. GO VOLS

CLK wants to win now. He understands that rebuilding is not an option. To answer your question, yes there is pressure. Can't wait until tomorrow @ 4. GO VOLS!!

I agree. Neuheisel is in his second year and feels the same kind of pressure. It is always interesting to watch how teams perceive pressure and respond to it. I can see Tennessee having a big edge in controlling their emotions, fears and focus. For no other reason than this coaching staff. They are most assuredly all master psychologist.

Absolutely!

The day you don't feel pressure to win is the day you should retire. It's all about winning. If it weren't, we would still have CPF walkin' the sidelines.

In the case of CLK, I believe it's more about demanding and expecting to win. Don't settle for anything less!

Go Big Orange!

there is some pressure to win because we want to impress the recruits. i don't think the fan base as a whole has any large expectations for this year though. that being said, with two commits after last weeks win, i imagine the coaches feel like they need to keep it up to help get a few more play makers. we already have a top 10 or so class and with several more good wins this year, we could really make a push towards the top.

The pressure IS on the Vols in this game. We want to send a message that NOBODY can expect to come into Neyland and expect a win in the Kiffin era.

I think this is an extremely important game for Kiffin and this program:
1. This is the game the marked the beginning of last year's disaster, another loss and all that negative energy could emerge again. This is a must win to maintain confidence and momentum. Last week was a nice start, but it means nothing if we lay an egg this week.
2. This is the 1st legit team of the Kiffin era and he needs a win for credibility.
3. Given the history of Kiffin and Orgeron with UCLA and Chow, they want to win this thing in a huge way
4. This is a nationally televised game and given the way Kiffin brought attention to himself and the program this offseason, he needs to back it up...and he knows it
5. This is a huge game for recruiting as it is nationally televised, SEC vs. PAC 10 and Tennessee needs to open pipe-lines to the West coast and there will be several high profile recruits at the game and many more watching on TV.

The pressure is on, but somehow I don't think that really bothers Kiffin and this crew; I think they relish it.

The pressure is on big time after last weeks win. All of a sudden, you have a large segment of the UT fanbase calling for a 3 TD win over UCLA...

2 weeks ago, UT was just hoping for a victory over UCLA of any kind...

Expectations lead to pressure. Expectations are way higher now.

Its hard enough to live up to expectations in high profile schools, but LK jacked up big mouth has gave extra fuel to the fire for schools to destroy UT. UCLA will win on Sat. Before vols fans get all happy about a blowout of WKU lets not forget the vols got a Oakland Raider reject who had no control on the left coast. With his mouth he has put more pressure for the players to do well, because after UCLA wins and UF drops 50+ on the vols it will be back to earth and the vols will be the most talked about sub .500 team this year, the only talk the vols will get on TV is future recruits. All of you have been asking for a new coach for years....well u got one(enjoy)!!!

What you see as determinants, others would argue that it's a good thing and I would be one of them.

All things considered, the pressure isn't really on the Vols. Other than us homers, no one else believes the Vols will win more than 6 games. Expectations really aren't high this year in reality. The Volfans are a different story. We play enough schlubs this year to meet the 6 game high water mark.

Yes indeed, the pressure is on but no more than it will be next game or the game after. We Tennessee Fans expect, hell no, we demand, victories. The coaches know it, the players know it, the band knows it and even the cheerleaders know it.

Coach Kiffin and our Vols expect pressure. They train under pressure. They train to handle pressure. They pressure each other for maximum performance. Pressure leads to victories. Complacency leads to a losing season.

I am not worried about the pressure being too much for our coaches... Ours are pros! They have been there many times before. They don't have pressure headaches, they cause pressure headaches.

Now Vols, go out there and stomp a mudhole in the "Teddy Bears", er I mean Bruins.:rock::rock::rock:

Of course there's pressure. What do you think the "competition" mentality as all about? What do you think the high tempo practices were all about? What do you think the 5 am runs were all about?

This new staff has done everything they could to put as much pressure on the team from as many angles as possible ever since the took over. Expectations didn't just rise for the team with the WKU win.... Kiffin has been demanding a "championship level" performance out of every practice, meeting, workout, etc.

If UT loses, I don't think it will be because the pressure got to them. It will be because they make too many mistakes or UCLA is ALOT better than we think they are.

I think the Vols are going to play this entire season like they've got nothing to lose.

Of course the pressure is on the boys that think they are in a hunting camp with that terrible orange on!!! They will wilt like lettuce in a steam room. They have no character!!

Was this supposed to be clever? Was the hunting camp relevant?
