Is it me or is the NCAA on some kind of power surge or something? I mean every day somebody is getting suspended or programs under investigation. I truly believe the NCAA has it in for certain universities. If any one here believes Florida, Texas, Ohio State, etc dont do things wrong you are so delusional its unreal. The NCAA could find out some thing on every school if they wanted to but they just go with whoever they dont like. I mean what the hell is with restrictions on phone calls about? I mean is that really that such a factor in helping a recruit choose a school. The only things that should matter is paying players, fixing academics, or a sex scandal or something crazy like that. Someone please tell me the purpose of the phone call rule. Can a recruit not just hang up the phone if he doesn't want to talk? As long as a money deal isn't being talked about on the phone why not let them talk away. If the coach is selling his university why wouldnt the recruit want to know as much about that as possible. And by the way the whole Justin Hunter thing still ticks me off.

A Question that needs to be asked is should there be another organization that oversees the NCAA and makes sure they are doing things ethically?

The NCAA is one big contradiction.

They are going on a witch hunt, yet they can't even clear players like Hunter and others in a timely fashion. The biggest joke there is the Masoli case in which the NCAA basically overruled the NCAA. Makes sense don't it?

So because Pearl got caught now we're going to blame the system?

Seriously...the responses I've been seeing here just proves to me our fans are no better than anyone else's fans and it's high time we stop acting like we are.

They're not out of control, they are paying more attention to enforcing the rules they are supposed to look for.

And yet the same people get mad when the fan base is called classless.

No definitely not. Bruce Pearl like he said made a minor issue much worse by misleading the AA. However, they're on a witch hunt for some reason while they still are the definition of contradiction.

The NCAA is a totalitarian regime, with no checks or balances. How did the university's ever succumb to this?

So we called to much. What the point of that rule anyway?

I mean the NCAA is basically a form of socialism. There are tons of rules that are just stupid. Its just like the government the people... (in this case the universities should have the power to throw it out)

I hope these superconferences form and leave the NCAA behind.

This is exactly what must college coaches think, hence the constant cheating by everyone. I tend to agree with them.

Why did osu get a free pass when clarett ratted them out. He exposed major violations..the ncaa always shows favoritism towards certain schools. So why was ohio state not stripped of their title like southern cal. There whole team was working 4 hrs a week for 40 hour a week salary at a car dealership

yes, the Gestapo (err NCAA) is out of control. As long as they continue to exploit athletes, I will think that way. Nothing about this sanctimonious group of hypocrites is ok with me. I can't wait for the major universities to tell them where to shove it.

I despise the NCAA. I put them right up there with Vandy. However, if you are dumb enough to get caught, you have to take your medicine. It is plain and simple. It isn't that hard for some to stay one step ahead of them.

Yes, they seem to be on a witch hunt against the SEC. Most of the invesigations are in this conference. Slive has lots of damage control to do.

If we are going to get in trouble for phone calls, then they better do something to Calipari and Kentucky.

To answer the OPs question, it doesn't matter if they are out of control, because CBP brought this on his damn self.

The NCAA has been up the ass of USC, UCLA, North Carolina, Memphis, Miami, Florida St. UConn, Indiana, Oklahoma, etc. in recent memory. I hardly think this is simply some kind of targeted attack on the SEC.
