Rexrode is correct that if Pruitt wants as large a turnout as possible for the spring game in the future, then having an autograph signing session with the players is a must. Every other criticism is insignificant... Restricting player and assistants access to the media reduces drama and ensures that the focal voice of the program is that of Pruitt's, as it should be.
At least so far, Pruitt hasn't acted like a jerk in a press conference. He's polite and professional - not condescending and snarky as Saban sometimes is. Having said that, he hasn't had to face the media after a tough loss yet either. We'll see how that goes.
Rexrodes whininess is only slightly more tolerable than the endless sarcasm of his predecessor, David Climer, who, by comparison, was only slightly more tolerable than John Adams, who, of course, wrote for the News Sentinel.
To correct Mr. Rexrodes position, NOBODY earns the right to behave like a jackass. The simple truth is that, given his stature in the profession, nobody will call Saban out for his boorish/dictatorial behavior.
It's funny how how we're all expected to read between the lines when you and butchna post but everyone else is held to the literal word.
Yes, I knew what you meant, but maybe the two of you can take the "hall monitoring" down a bit. :good!:
How come when you say funny it doesnt mean the same thing?
Oh, he mad.
But he'll say he's not, then tell us to go worship Butch or Track Grudens plane or some stupid crap that he thinks makes him seem like he knows everything.
Lol, just like "I know what you meant, but blah blah blah hall monitor, bunch a butchna behr bastages".

It seems that they may be, because Pruitt is keeping players, staff, and others from talking to the media. He is taking the Saban approach, and that is fine by me...
Not sure you or I will either. Time will tell.
I don't have a problem if Pruitt wants to limit media access. I always thought Butch was a little too preoccupied with what the media thought.
The media helps push your agenda. Maybe if Pruitt had engaged with the media a little more then more fans would have shown up to the O&W game and the whole "where were our fans" quote wouldn't have been said.
We can all bash Butch and the media, but I remember hearing "brick by brick" all over the place the first few years he was here. Every paper, website, and radio station that covers UT was pushing "brick by brick", and yes, even by a ton of some of the same people who claim to have "hated it from the start". We can say what we want about it now, but there's no doubt Butch's relationship w/ the media 1- bought him more time, 2- helped get the fans behind him, and 3- helped with recruiting. The one thing the media can't help you with is winning football games.
Ultimately it comes down to wins and losses, but a coach's relationship with the media can be the difference between getting fired after 3 years or getting fired after 5 years.
Hopefully we win and win and win and win, and Pruitt is really Saban 2.0 and returns us to a dominant force. But if not, Pruitt will come to regret his interactions with the media if and when times get tough.
Who cares what the media thinks?!?! Their opinion of themselves is usually way overblown. Pruitt's job is to crack down, get tough and win. If that doesn't happen in a few years, then the media can gripe.
The media won't save him or buy him more time if it goes south.
The media didn't help Jones do anything. His early success year 4 coupled with the AD hole bought him an extra year.
That racket is overplayed.
