in his 1st year at LSWho, with a full stable of players, the great Satan lost to UAB.

in his 1st year as a bammer, with a full stable of players, the great Satan lost to LAMonroe

with 20 years of coaching stability, and a full stable of players, Va Tech lost to James Madison

with a full stable of players, some the product of Lord Ogre, and with a head coach that some argued should be a Vol, ole piss lost to Jax State

in a time long ago in a galaxy far, far away, with the greatest QB to ever see the field, and a full roster of NFL talent, UT lost to Tiger High

we are down 15 scholarships. yesterday we were down 9 starters. for the Gators that hang around here, i'll explain: 9 starters are almost half of the whole starting team.

yesterday while the band played the Tennessee Waltz, i told my wife that of all the Vol teams i have seen over the years, this one is the worst.

her reply: "would you rather have this, or Phil Fulmer?"

my glass is 10% full.

I see it as bulding capital for the future. All that early experience for those young players will payoff in dividends. 1/2 full here

Saban recruited much, much better at both places than Dooley is here.

This is true, but you can also argue that there was more stability at Bama than here. 3 coaches in 3 years doesn't build confidence in recruits. I will be happy with a top 15 finish as long as we are stock piling studs on the O and D line. After that we will have to be close to the top 5 year in and year out.

When did national signing day happen??? Where was I???

I remember the last signing day when he was able to salvage a top 10 class according to rivals and land Hunter, Rogers etc... but I had no idea that he was done recruiting this year

Give me a break. I've rarely been one to defend Fulmer, and thought it was long past time for him to go by '08, but spare me. You would seiously rather have a Nick Saban wannabe that couldn't even win in the WAC than one of the winningest coaches in SEC history? Not to mention we're getting or butt handed to us in recruiting again this year, and the team has quit in 2 out of the 4 games so far this season. I know things had gotten bad under Fulmer, but even I'm hard pressed to imagine a scenario where things would have bottomed out this bad if he were still at the helm.

The players Mr. WAC is targeting aren't even good enough to land him where Saban finished in the rankings even if he landed all of them. Dooley had nothing to do with getting Hunter here either FWIW.

Where did all the people labeling others "negavols" go? That's all that there was on this board in August, up until the Florida game. I guess they realized they were living in a fantasy land, skipping through gumdrop swamp.

It is funny how fast everyone had their eyes opened. Like you said though, all those people calling for 8 or 9 wins were existing in their own delusional fairytale. Apparently reality is finally setting in to everyone now. It's not just "WE ARE TENNESSEE" and "we were good in the 90's so how can we not be good this year" anymore.

Good post. This team is about what it should be considering the situation. Not Dooley's fault. It matters not who the coach is until the roster can be replenished.

If CDD can recruit it will still take a couple of years (minimum) to rebuild. This is providing we can retain those we sign, something that can't be taken for granted as proven by recent history.

If CDD cannot recruit, he will be gone in 3 - 4 years. His recruiting will prove more critical to his long term tenure than the short term on-the-field results.

Personally, I like the man and hope he can succeed.

If the glass has beer or liquor in it and I am watching this team I can just promise you it will end up empty.

Yeah most of these guys are Fulmer recruits. How can you blame Dooley for this mess. He is playing freshmen because he has too. NOBODY could win with a young O-line like we have.

I didn't see anyone quit against Florida.

We must have been watching different games. Or maybe you're blind.

This year we will have to see the negavols come out of the woodwork because we aren't very good right now. I am just glad these idiots are not in charge, but can just run their mouths.
