The Cadaver Synod: When a Pope’s Corpse Was Put on Trial
But if you go to the Basilica San Giovanni Laterano looking for such morbid attractions, you’ll find you’re on your own. What happened there over one thousand years ago is still too horrible to speak of. This is the church where Pope Stephen VI put the rotting corpse of Pope Formosus on trial in January of 897.
The trial was called the Cadaver Synod or Synodus Horrenda (since everything is more colorful in Latin). It ushered in one of the most corrupt eras in the history of the papacy, a time that’s now referred to in all seriousness as the pornocracy.
There is nothing worse than a man of the cloth who takes advantage of his/her position with minor children.
Having said that, I know there are a lot of good Catholics out there. I am Presbyterian and not Catholic though.
I had to go look that up. That is some twisted stuff
No doubt, but the institution is bordering on evil. They really thought it was a good idea to split hairs on whether some of the children were penetrated or just fondled and whether they were prepubescent or postpubescent children? Keep your hands off kids. Is that so f@cking hard.
I'd like to see the Catholic Church own it like the University of Maryland just did after that player died. The president said, The University "accepts legal and moral responsibility for the mistakes" and that "They entrusted their son to us, and he did not return home."
Much better approach than the Catholic Church decided upon.
Yep, total swing and miss. The Catholic church doesn't SUPPORT molestation. It obviously has failed and covered up egregious acts, but it doesn't promote this acts.
There are a lot of "good" cops, also. But far too many in both groups seem to turn a blind eye to the obvious abuses that their peers are involved in. So can you really call those people "good"?There is nothing worse than a man of the cloth who takes advantage of his/her position with minor children.

Sexual abuse has been institutionalized, routinized and tolerated by the church hierarchy for decades. If you think this statement is hyperbole, consider that the grand jury report includes, but is by no means limited to, the case of a ring of pedophile priests in Pittsburgh, who raped their male victims, took pornographic pictures of them and marked them by giving them gold crosses to wear so that they could be easily recognized by other abusers.
You are splitting hairs.Yep, total swing and miss. The Catholic church doesn't SUPPORT molestation. It obviously has failed and covered up egregious acts, but it doesn't promote this acts.
You are splitting hairs.
Do they vocally support molestation or have anything in writing that supports molestation? Why of course not.
But public proclamations of support are one thing (i.e. words). The fact that you see an organized cover up of these acts shows (through their actions) that they support molestation.
