Did you see what I did there, you know, with the rhyme?
All kidding aside, Ive thought for some time that the razorbacks are ready to actually make some noise in the SEC. As Ive really pondered it lately, Im not so sure. I think that they can score, but I think that Mallett is prone to crippling mistakes. If you look at Bama last year, you see the blueprint for winning in the SEC. Run the ball, limit your mistakes, win the kicking game, play good D, and above all else, dont turn the ball over. I just dont think Arkansas can stop people and I think that they will be turnover prone. When I think of the Hogs I think of the gamecocks, teams that have a very low football IQ. They will hurt themselves, esp at the most crucial times. I think that the Vols will follow the winning blueprint in that I expect adequate QB play out of Simms/Bray, heavy doses of Poole/Oku, a superb defense, and Im praying that Palardy is SEC ready. I dont expect Simms/Bray to be spectacular or flashy, just dont turn the ball over and no unforced errors. I think that conditioning will matter more than ever as we are thin at most positions. I think Wylie will prove that he is more than up to this task. Let me tell you what I think will be the #1 reason Tennessee will be the surprise team of the SEC, leadership. This team is loaded with elite leaders in Nick Reveiz and Chris Walker. I have been a huge fan of John Maxwell for many years and I whole heartedly believe his maxim that "Everything rises and falls on leadership." Those two young me will lead the way, book it.

Not to be that guy, but I hope Bray can find the McElroy in himself.

I dont think Bray or Simms will be asked, ever, to carry this team. They only have to play within the system and dotn get us beat.

Not to go against you Rex but we can both agree that Ingram did most if not all of the carrying of the team last season.

kind of like Trent Dilfer did with the Ravens...you don't have to win the game, just don't lose it!

I'm very interested in your OL play this season as it will dictate your success. If your boys can open some holes for your very talented RBs, I think you will surprise MANY teams this year. If not, and you're forced to be one dimensional, it may be a very long year. IMO, your OL is your critical area to look at.

Ehhh, with a possible freshman starting QB and an inexperinced o-line I honestly do not see us surprising anybody.....Maybe by SCORING now and then we might surprise them but I'm not counting on that happening too much just yet...And now ladies and gentlemen Mr. Conway Twitty

That will be easier to say if we're up 2 td's than if we're down 2.

I still think it all comes down to your OL. From my understanding they looked pretty good in the O&W game and still have the offseason to bulk up and prepare for the season.

You are exactly correct. I think we have enough talent at our skill positions to turn some heads. And it's all going to depend on our OL to open holes for Poole and give whichever QB we decide on, time to make a smart accurate throw. Thanks for the continual classy posts.

Good analysis. I do believe injuries in key positions could hurt us big time, but we should finish above the middle of the pack in the SECE.

Well said Rex, alot of people tend to look at Dooley ONLY when it comes to the coaching staff and bring his record up at La. Tech. One thing they forget about is the staff he has brought in. This is gonna be one hell of a staff that i truly believe will gel well together and this season may just surprise many.
