Let me start off by saying i'm cautiously optimistic at what Dooley can do, but when he answers questions with something along the lines of, "I can't answer that in a sound bite", it doesn't seem any better than Fulmer's, "I need to go back and watch the film."

I guess we are going to have to go back to the old days of non-answers. Dooley said it twice in the opening PC and at least once in the interview with Wendi Nix, but I suppose it's better than Magic Dust or Workin' like Heck.

What i think he's saying is, they don't have enough time for him to explain what he's saying

Most coaches do that. Being polite while telling you it's none of your business.

I would rather him show his work on the field than try to make us like him in a 60 sec interview.

I love it. He is distinguishing himself from the other coaches that just go off at the mouth in order to have their quips plastered all over the media. He knows the press is relentless in trying to grab these little soundbites and he's not playing their game.

Great to see a coach that plays by his own rules while still following the REAL rules. Refreshing is an understatement.
:good!:

Give the guy a chance....I'm sure he doesn't want to come off as an arrogant prick like our ex-coach....I like it, he wants to prove what he does on the field, and not run his mouth and try to prove it through the press...I know you weren't really trying to flame him but some of you guys need to let him coach a couple games/season the judge him because we all know if he wants to keep his job all he has to do is win

Alot of people certainly complained about his film comments. I'm sure I can dig up a dozen threads in short order if you really need me to.

What they are trying to say is....you are tahing his comment wrong. PF used it to avoid a question because he had no answer. CDD says it because the reporter does not get an answer from him. Big difference.

Check the film, work like heck, get back to basics......:eek:lol:

If you guys are already on Dooley, it will be real interesting on here when the 2-5 Vols invade Columbia at the end of October.

Will Dooley still continue the Fulmer Cup tradition and pass out "Think" cards in August? I'll hang up and listen.

It's better than the answer I'd give. Something like, "Gosh, I dunno. I mean, I just, wow, I don't know what to tell you on that one."

To be serious in answer to the topic, I remember at halftime of an old Alabama game, on the way to the locker room, the reporter was asking a visibly agitated Bear Bryant why he did what he did (strategy wise) in the last minute or so of the 1st half. Bear very sternly, almost rudely replied to the affect of, "I'm trying to win the game. What do you think I was trying to do." or something very similar to that.

The moral of the story is, as long as our coach is working like heck at watching the film trying to win the game, it doesn't matter what he says in a soundbite because we need to get the tennessee brand back out there, and all publicity is good publicity at this point, dad gum it! So attack, attack, attack!

You guys gotta look at who this guy has been with most of career, I'd say once he gets comfortable and established you wont be seeing much of the media around period.

:lolabove: C'mon guys, that's funny right there.
At least I thought it was funny.

Even if it wasn't, the story about Bear is true.

I'm really starting to think that literally no matter who our coach is, or what he says, there are going to be those UT "fans" who will always find something to gripe about. Good Lord, shut up and wait until we see what he produces on Saturdays. I don't care if he answers questions with "I'm a f'n retard" as long as he produces. It's the results that we get on Saturdays that matter, not insignificant comments that he makes to what were probably ridiculous questions to begin with.

I nominate this thread for 'Dumbest Signing Day Thread'...

...anyone second the motion?
