Is Sanders still out?

that's true. It was not announced when it occurred..

In a practice on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, Tennessee offensive lineman David Sanders Jr. suffered a "unique" shoulder injury that forced him to be a last-minute scratch from the season opener on August 30. Coach Josh Heupel initially indicated that he expected Sanders to be back for the following game, but the timeline has been less certain than expected.

Yeah its weird. I know they said nerve damage, but how did it happen? Are they not just doing walk throughs by Wednesdays or are they still hitting? How do you sustain a nerve damage injury just 3 days from your first game?

Wednesday is the typical hitting day of each week. Walk through is on Friday.

You can do it, especially in the shoulder area, without hitting. reaching out with your arm to grab a player running by, even in slow play without hitting, and the arm gets pushed back to wrench the shoulder area. this can cause a nerve to be damaged.

Makes more sense then putting him out there for his first game against an SEC squad.
He’s either starting caliber or he’s not. I get your thought. Of course a few tune up powder puffs would be nice, but the week to heal up outweighs the risk. With the hype this kid had, I’m not sure a UAB game buys him much. They obviously think he can play.

We are 1/3 of the way done with the season. At this point we might as well redshirt him.

Redshirts aren’t really a thing anymore for kids with true talent. If he’s legit he won’t be here long enough for it to buy you anything.

I get it. I wish he was starting to as much as he was hyped. Unfortunately we the fans can’t control injuries. Is what it is at this point. He’d be playing if he could play. Not much more to it than that.

Just let him get healthy before he comes back. We held up against Georgia and the line has been doing well so far. Ideally I’d like to get him back for Alabama. I think that the line will hold up against the cowbellers next week.

I’d be willing to go a little further. A redshirt only makes you pay more to keep him. In today’s market, if they are good, then you pay for them. The more eligibility they have, the more value. I’d burn every redshirt immediately

This is my thought. We seem super fixated on sanders, due to the hype I’m assuming. Our O line hasn’t been a concern yet. I’m much more concerned with the fortitude of our coaching staff after the Georgia game.

No one should be surprised. Kid has an NFL future most likely. No one will take any chances with him.

He’s playing in Starkville. They didn’t need him today. He’s gotta get back in serious SEC football shape, and you can’t just do that with this type of injury. It takes a little time once cleared to lift and etc. He will be ready next Saturday.

The above post is PURE speculation based on what I heard a probably uninformed SEC TV announcer say today. But it sounds good, so I’m going with it.

You accused him of not wanting to play. Stop acting like you're asking a simple question
Well let's cut him some slack. He got used to all the big $ makers on this team either transfer or flirt with the portal before payday this past season. It's a thing we ask in the back of our minds.

Listening to Basilio and it’s been said he’s got a nerve issue in the neck. Sounds painful. Pray for him!

I remember years dealing with nerve issues in my foot until I was healed. Life changing.
