Is Robert Hubbs a 1 and done?

There is one more factor in this equation. Hubbs would get drafted based on his potential even if he does not blow up next year. If we don't bring in some really good talent in the next recruiting class I could see him leaving because there wasn't a lot of talent around him.

I think he's hear at least 2 years. Going to be a lot of offense from returning players this year. Even if he's really good, I think he waits until the second year at the earliest. 2014/2015, he could be THE man on the team, and his stock goes up pretty high NBA-wise. Just a very nice problem to have.

I here u there

The NBA draft next year is SILLY talented so I would say no. Just going by his film, I would say at least 2 years.

My border collie's best friend says Hubbs is already petitioning the NCAA to get him an extra year of eligibility.

I have seen him play a number of times. If he is 1-and-done it means he has made VAST improvements in some areas of his game. He is likely a 2 year college player.

He should use the same rule of thumb that Tobias gave Stokes. You're a 1st rounder, but if not projected stay in school and work on your craft. Hubbs has yet to play at the collegiate level. CCM demands bigtime defense. Hubbs has to be willing to show he can defend, if not he'll be sitting next to an asst coach, 5 stars don't matter.

Year 1: Plays 20-25 minutes, learns defense, improves ball handling, doesn't have the pressure to be the man.

Year 2: Takes over the team as the main guy and becomes a lottery pick.

I think that is the plan.

We'll see once he actually gets on the court. Lots of people thought Jarnell would be one-and-done until they realized he's an undersized 5 ... or a 4 who's slow, can't jump, and doesn't have a jump shot (when compared to NBA-level talent).

Is he talented enough yes, but I don't think he cracks the starting lineup with three seniors and two juniors starting. I say we get two years out of him then he goes.

i would say the odds he doesnt start the majority of games next year is very low

i would also say the odds of him being 1 and done are low

I don't know if Hubbs will get the playing time as a freshman to be a one and done player. I think he'll probably play around 25 a game and if he can play defense could play more. He would have to average double figures to get on the draft board and I don't see him getting over 8 shots per game. I think Maymon, Stokes, and McRae are gonna get 70 percent of the shots.

I don't see why he would declare for next years draft when next years draft is going to be STACKED... better chance for him in 2015

He is a good kid and a great basketball player but NOwhere close to getting paid yet unless he takes HGH or Steroids over the summer and through his first year.

Either way, he will help the Vols win next year and it will draw more 5 Star recruits to pick the Orange vs going to KY. Next year Vol Hoops will be a strong NCAA contender!! Get ready to Dance.

he definitely has the talent to be a 1 and done...I doubt Martin will allow him to play to his full potential though

Why's that? Because the roster is so packed, it'd be hard to give him 30+ minutes of play?

Several coaches recruiting him said over and over that he would be pro. That said, he needs to bulk up, and refine his whole game. He should be @ UT @ least 3 seasons.

Yea but Archie Goodwin sucks though.

you are wrong my friend, he has talent. he is a solid basketball player. just wait and see

I hope Hubbs is a solid player and all, but I doubt Martin will be bringing kids like him in every year, so I really hope he stays a few years no matter how good he does.
No I do not have much optimism for Tennessee's recruiting of five star players.

I know I may sound crazy but Hubbs looks like a really solid player. IMO he looks like he'll stay for 2 or 3 years then leave for the NBA draft. What do you guys think?

Hopefully. He shouldn't stick around too long with the garbage coach we have. Have success, and get to the nba.

no, just because u are a star doesnt mean 1 and done, there are 25 stars each year but there arent 25 freshmen declaring for the draft each year.
