It seems logical that since this team beat Auburn and Kentucky, there is a considerable amount of talent on this team. How then do you explain the complete meltdowns vs Mo and Vandy. Either it is a lack of proper preparation or a lack of motivation - or a combination of both. I saw a defense repeatedly out of position on plays that Vandy has been using all year long. That is poor coaching, there is no other reasonable answer. Readiness to play and motivation to go all-out to win is also a function of coaching. These last 2 disgraceful performances more than cancelled out the upset wins over ranked teams . Once again all the Vols had to do was beat Vandy to get a bowl invite and once again they played as if they didnt really care. The fans take these losses harder than these players: I believe a large fraction of the team was not thrilled about more practices ( at least , thats the way it looked). Right now, I would gladly trade Pruitt for Derrick Mason who does a far superior job with 2 and 3 star recruits. Give Mason the power , money and prestige of UT football and he would get us back to the upper part of SEC nation. Earlier this year I posted my concern about a death spiral of bad play, bad recruiting and fan indifference in a devils triangle of ruin. We are close- look at the empty seats in home games like Mo.- fans are sick of excuses and incompetence. They wont suffer it much longer. There are many pleasant things to do in the fall in East Tennessee that dont involve Neyland Stadium.

These threads are getting more laughable as they are posted.

You saw a defense constantly “out of position”. Conversely, I saw a defense most of the year, including yesterday, in good position, but physically unable or emotionally unwilling to make a tackle. Either one is completely unacceptable, but at least, from my perspective anyway, the players were oftentimes in the right position to make a play, they just never did.

I wrote repeatedly not constantly. They are not the same. The poor tackling was not new either.

I would agree with that assessment. Time will tell whether or not he can actually teach them how to tackle

Amazing how many people try to find different ways to say the same stupid thing.

No one knows if Pruitt will work out here. It’s a wait and see situation. If we have to deal with empty seats, so be it.
Empty seats mean hundreds of thousands of dollars lost. That is something the mandarins will take seriously. It is always about money, learn it , believe it.

Pruitt may or may not be the answer but I do prefer him over DM. Can't say what it is about him but don't care for him. He does coach those kids up and if he were here and won I'm sure I'd get on board. However he would be far down my list of coaches i wish we had tried to hire.
