Is Pruitt a Union Electrician??

If there is any knock about Pruitt, it is that he doesnt seem to play well with others. He had some clashes with Richt (that stemmed from competitive nature, not personal anything towards Richt), and I have heard that he and Jimbo didnt get along either.

I am purely speculating here, but I think Jeremy may have control issues, and may be unwilling to "hire good men and let them do their jobs." That may be why we have a million dollar DC but Pruitt is still calling plays, and we have a top notch OC but a bottom dwelling offense.

And honestly, I get that. You fight for 15 years to get to be the head coach, and it is hard to fully trust your career and legacy to anyone else. But that's also something that once you master? Once you learn to turn things over to others and let them do what they're good at and let their strengths hide your weaknesses, you become a REALLY good CEO. The head coaches job is to create and maintain the culture and then to support the others as they do what they do best. He is a facilitator more than a micromanager.

Just my opinion. I think eventually Pruitt will get it right and will let go a bit. I trust him. He comes from a good pedigree. Knew his dad when he was at MCHS the first time around. Stellar man and coach. Jeremy learned from a good one. Plus, being around Saban, Jimbo, and Richt, he has learned from some of the best. He will get this thing fixed. I'll pull for him every day he is the Coach of Tennessee until the day he isnt. And even then, I'll still pull for him. He has worked his way up. I just hope he continues to grow and mature as a man and a head coach and a leader. He has more potential than any coach we have had since Phil. Even more than Kiffin. JmO

If Jimmy Sexton is your agent, every school will have "the right to match" if only for leverage reasons. UGA was in a tough spot with Grantham leaving yet they had no leverage but still got a better DC while saving $$$$...

When you get caught with your pants down, with a grad student working in the AD, and your fiancée tells you it’s either Tallahassee or me, then FSU didn’t really get a chance to match. It wasn’t about money.

This post is peak anti-Pruitt.

Dude has consistently been moving upward his entire career. Don't know how anyone could accuse a guy who was a high school coach 15 years ago of "moving laterally".

Not saying Pruitt will succeed or not; just that this is ridiculous. Sometimes people fail for completely honest reasons. We don't have to exaggerate it. Hope Pruitt succeeds, but even if he doesn't, he's been honest and upfront his entire time here (unlike the last head coach).
This. I get that people are pissed right now, but manufacturing ways to make fun of Pruitt is ridiculous. Imagine if he’d bounced around a bunch of MAC and Big East schools? Oh wait.... No he was steadily climbing the ladder at 3 of the top programs in the country.

Is it a concern that CJP has made a few lateral moves and has not been at any school for what I would consider a very long stint??
Has anyone tracked his career at each move for pay increases? Is that the reason for changing jobs every few years? Is it normal for up and coming coaches to move around as much as he has?
Perhaps he has reached his Peter Principle level of incompetency ?
Is this a concern or just me grasping for answers?
What say ye VolNation?
Most coaches including OC/DC move around often. Seems to be the norm instead of an outlier.

Hmmm.....position coach at Alabama to defensive coordinator at FSU? Not a lateral move. Made 500k a year.

DC to DC at an SEC school Georgia? Increased his pay from 500k to 850k and then to 1.3 million? Not a lateral move.

Then he went to Alabama as DC. He there made the same 1.3 million for a team who might actually win a NC. You might could call that a lateral move, but I wouldnt. At that point, smart was about to take over. No way he would have worked for Smart

DC at bama to HC at Tennessee? Over $3M a year?

He may have had the same positions at different places, but I do not see a single move that I'd say is lateral. You give me the chance to win the top accolade? Not lateral. You give me a $350k a year raise? Not a lateral move.

Stop trying to make something out of a guy who climbed a ladder trying to support his family just like you and I would.

My recollection from my days as a union carpenter is that the rest of the trades looked at the electricians as having just about the cushiest jobs. This gave rise to IBEW standing for I Barely Even Work.

This might sort of apply to Pruitt, too.

It could be he’s just collecting natty rings from each school. Coaches move around ALL THE TIME.

Hank Snow song!!
I
prefer the Cash version but Hank Snow was the first country artist to make it a hit . On a semi related note his gift shop/ museum was a few doors down from my business downtown in the 70’s . It’s a family business and I wasn’t born until ‘78 so my grandfather owned it back then but he was friendly with “Mr. Snow” When George Jones was really down and out Hank let him live in the upstairs portion . Jones clogged the crapper and it flooded into the downstairs museum portion . Hank “evicted “ him and said something like “George I can put up with a lot of things but I cannot abide turds floating in my display cases “. 😂😂

No news flash here because the pictures tell the tale but my 92 y.o. grandfather still talks about him having the worst toupee that he has ever seen.
