Is it a concern that CJP has made a few lateral moves and has not been at any school for what I would consider a very long stint??
Has anyone tracked his career at each move for pay increases? Is that the reason for changing jobs every few years? Is it normal for up and coming coaches to move around as much as he has?
Perhaps he has reached his Peter Principle level of incompetency ?
Is this a concern or just me grasping for answers?
What say ye VolNation?

Great observation, there might be some validity in his short stays, there could be an issue there.

Hmmm.....position coach at Alabama to defensive coordinator at FSU? Not a lateral move. Made 500k a year.

DC to DC at an SEC school Georgia? Increased his pay from 500k to 850k and then to 1.3 million? Not a lateral move.

Then he went to Alabama as DC. He there made the same 1.3 million for a team who might actually win a NC. You might could call that a lateral move, but I wouldnt. At that point, smart was about to take over. No way he would have worked for Smart

DC at bama to HC at Tennessee? Over $3M a year?

He may have had the same positions at different places, but I do not see a single move that I'd say is lateral. You give me the chance to win the top accolade? Not lateral. You give me a $350k a year raise? Not a lateral move.

Stop trying to make something out of a guy who climbed a ladder trying to support his family just like you and I would.

I take zero issue in with him bouncing around to improve his career. In fact, I encourage it.
I would be the last to blast someone for improving his career.
The question was were the moves all career advancements.
I really do not know. He has not stuck around anywhere long. That might be a good sign
So the OP begins a "cute & clever" thread in a redundant attack on CJP. We get it, & don't expect a Pulitzer or a contract from Zanies.
How do you attack someone asking questions? That was not my intent.
Just about every snap has been analyzed on here since CJP has been HC. Someone has checked out his resume. It was to them the questions were pointed.
Your opinions are just as valuable as any other poster's. Most members, myself included, consider your posts far and away above average. Please weigh in with your answers to the questions.

Thank you.
I knew somebody had looked at each move.
I forgot about the Kirby. I thought MR was still coach at that period.

Not that it matters but shouldn't it be "I.B.E." ? "Everywhere" is one word.

Nope bc if kirby was still dc at Bama, how could Pruitt have taken the job? Pruitt worked for richt his last two years at Georgia.

This post is peak anti-Pruitt.

Dude has consistently been moving upward his entire career. Don't know how anyone could accuse a guy who was a high school coach 15 years ago of "moving laterally".

Not saying Pruitt will succeed or not; just that this is ridiculous. Sometimes people fail for completely honest reasons. We don't have to exaggerate it. Hope Pruitt succeeds, but even if he doesn't, he's been honest and upfront his entire time here (unlike the last head coach).

I have absolutely no issues with the movement at all. If anyone wants to nit pick a move, it would be from natty title winning FSU to UGA. That was a small step down at that time. Georgia did offer more money however the fact that FSU made little attempt to keep him because Jimbo couldnt stand him. The fact that FSU could have matched UGA $$$ but didnt would be the only item that I'd have concern over...

Who would not take Brent Venables and not bitch about it?
As a DC? Nobody should. He's top shelf.

As a HC, shouldn't you get "we dont know if he could run an entire program to that same level."

He might be the next Dabo but nobody knows that. Clemson didn't with the original.

FSU didn’t have the chance to match. Mrs Pruitt made the decision to leave Tallahassee. UGA was more of a landing spot than an upgrade.

If Jimmy Sexton is your agent, every school will have "the chance to match" if only for leverage reasons. UGA was in a tough spot with Grantham leaving yet they had no leverage but still got a better DC while saving $$$$...
