Is over optimism blinding us all from reality?

Oh yeah.. so presposterous.. just like its so preposterous to assume people who come on here and spout nothing but negativity could possibly be fake fans.

Almost as silly as those who use posts like this one as evidence to conclude that folks who can't spell and make unfounded statements could be ignorant.

I just don't understand the people who are trying to put on the vail of objectivity, yet a lot of them try to put down the people who are overly optimistic as well, and make themselves and their thought look negative in the process. I can't do anything about who the coach is, and frankly, no on this board can either. So, just enjoy UT Football, because that's the constant here.

the put downs generally don't come until they're called faux fans or told to root for USC or some other such silliness. Dismissing either attitude, sans reason, causes the trip down ad hominem way.

I really like to spend lots of timing trying to covince people something is going to happen that I don't want to happen. It makes so much sense.

It's far more likely that the 'faux fans' are those casting the stones.

people are simply rationalizing their points of view. Your assumption that anyone is trying to convince you rarely right. People believe what they believe for reasons and this board is an outlet for opinions, so folks let them fly. If you struggle with that, you need to find another way to spend your time. Given that you've somehow ascertained that UT folks are bigger SEC fans than Vol fans, you need to stop inferring altogether.

I just can't stand the people that still throw Kiffin's name around like he was some historic figure here at UT. The only thing historic about anything he did, is he divided a fanbase faster than any other coach in UT history. Kiffin was bad for UT at this point, that is something I think we can all agree on.

Its funny how people get angry with someone because that person thinks tennessee is going to be a good football team. But they are fans too. just objective.

Actually its a lot more pathetic. At least 12 yrs ago we won something and not our "heated rival"
The fact the years since we had won anything that mattered kept piling up certainly didn't stop the Orange Overall crowd from begging for Fulmer to get more time. Anyone who felt Fulmer should have been retained after the 2005 season bears responsibility for the mess UT is in now. You got what you deserved for accepting mediocrity because you erroneously believed that fat slob "Bled Big Orange."

I'd rather be optimistic about our future then assume the sky is falling. Seriously?!

good for you. Assuming others are "Fake Fans (all credit to him who coined it)" or want failure because they approach the world differently still makes no sense. You're you, I'm me. I won't be changing soon.

The people Kiffin angered are pretty much exactly the people I hope follow Fulmer when he takes the job at Louisiana-Monroe. If Lane caused those folks anguish and discomfort, he's A-1 in my book.

Well, I'm objective to know that Fulmer should have been gone about 5 years before he left, but I still wanted him to win. I don't think I ever rooted for him to lose, and I wanted Kiffin to win as well. I want every coach to win here, it's just part of being a fan honestly.

I'm still trying to find the people who are rooting for Dooley to fail.

Thanks for the kudos! I've never been fond of fair weather fans. Ultimately we'll get all of our ducks in a row.

who's a fair weather fan? Most of those on this board claiming a monopoly on fandom simply watch the Vols on TV, like most of the rest.

Oh I agree, and I know that you weren't going after them, I just think being a homer is part of it. I mean, what else better is there than UT football on a Saturday?? No matter who the coach is, IMO.

How much fun did you have during the Alabama game in 08.

But they "bleed orange"
They'd have torn those pictures of USC players down with their bare hands. Of course, that would have involved them actually setting foot on campus. That means it likely wouldn't have happened, but by God they'd have been there in spirit.
