The worst you have ever seen? We have made every QB look like an All American and the past three have had career days passing against us. Des anyone else but me think that part of the problem could be due to the fact we have a separate coach for our corners and another one for our safeties? Seems to me like our DB's are constantly confused and ALWAYS out of position. Maybe 1 secondary coach might help solve some of our communication problems?

The worst I have ever seen. Is that guy from Navy that everyone wanted coaching the DBs, I forgot.

Our safeties play awful. Waggs is holding his own. In general Coleman is overmatched at this point, but still better than Teague ever was. So the experiment with Sal and the coaches is not working. The D-line is doing OK.

I have no problem overall with the offense used, the players understanding and execution of it, and the overall performance. Pittman and Graham have done the work as well as Hinshaw. The receivers have stepped up and they have 6+ of them that can get the job done. If you score over 30 points in a game you ought to win the game. Period.

Think Ansley (another Sabanite brought in with Sunseri) is DB coach. DL gives QB all day in pocket or looses containment for easy gains. All in all secondary is just 1 part of big problems. LBs are too slow to help cover also. Just a real mess on D, inluding scheme. Never thought I would say it but I miss Wilcox.

Dooley messed up by hiring Sumseri. He ain't doin too bad a job. Dooley that is.

Good point. You wonder what this defense would be like if Wilcox were still the DC. However, Dooley made his bed with Sunseri and now has to sleep in it.

Lathers has given up a TE seam route every game so far. Johnson gets smoked on WR crossing routes. Both are great on run stopping but need to come out on passing downs.

 add that to Moore being one of the worst safeties ever and there are our defensive problems.

For who? Who do you plan on subbing in? We already have Sapp on passing downs at LB coming in. Who else you going to put in? Let me answer that, there is no one...

Connor Shaw had 350 yards passing, that is more a third of his season total. The secondary might be the worst in the country

Defense starts with getting some pressure on the ball. Have you noticed how slow Will Bo and Smith are in the JACK? Jordan Will. Looked promising till he went out in first quarter. You have to be able to pass rush. I've seen so many ppl bash AJ and Herm but you have to be blind to not see they are the heart of our defense. Those two are usually putting everyone else in the right position. Maggitt is another good one hes just playing hurt.

Does anyone besides me think part of the problem is having a separate coach for our safeties and corners? Could be this is part of our communication issue.

Another thing is to run a 3-4 you have to be smart. How many times do you see our secondary and LB confused at each other. Even when they are in position they seam to have great deal of problems tackling. Moore looked like a fool when trying to tackle that TE on the 3 and goal on their own 26. The TE ran right over him for the TD.

Our DBs this year dont really do anything well. Poor tackling, poor coverage, poor closing while ball is in the air, poor presnap adjustments. They play hard, but just are not well coached in any aspect. I think there's some talent there, but its very well hidden most of the time.........

Exactly!!! That is what me and a friend were talking about this past week: "Our secondary just too often appears to be confused and out of position." And that comes down to coaching and player knowledge/execution.

Still... go vols... I'm tired of the losses.
