Is our back up RB the best slot receiver in the SEC?

800 yards rushing, 10 TD's. 350 Yards receiving, 5 TD's, 1 or 2 special teams TD's is what I see from Kamara this year.

I agree with the guy above.... Kamara is better fit for this system than Hurd is.

Be careful one injury puts him right there.. Take those words back..

No way to predict injury. Looking from a preseason vantage point, there are no meaningful snaps/carries available for him this year given the ones that will be commanded/demanded by Hurd, AK and Dobbs.

If a key injury happens to Hurd or AK then ok, everything changes. But until that happens, 2017 is Kelly's year to make a difference, not 2016.

Second year in the system, he's going to be a load. When they do motion him out it creates all kinds of problems for the defense. It'd be great on early downs to motion him out from a two back set and throw to him a lot like the Patriots do their slot receivers with those option routes. Who you going to double? Hurd, Croom, Kamara, who has the QB? and we haven't even mentioned the outside guys. This is going to be a hard offense to corral!

Even tho AK is a fine rb...he would make a very good slot. He has proven hands.

Also it would be interesting to see what Evan Berry could do toating the rock. He has proved to be a threat with the ball

While healthy I think we are good at S. They need to find more ways to get Evan the ball.

Not only can AK line up just about anywhere but he can be effective just about anywhere. RB, Slot, Wildcat, even out wide on screens. I hate those WR screens but with 2 good blockers AK can make a guy miss and make a big gain out of one. Punt returns too. Jack of all trades and yes...one of the best back up RB's in the country. Lsu and GA(if they both return to 100%) are both nasty with their top 2 guys but so are the Vols.

Can you imagine the runners we have with Dobbs, Kamara, Hurd and Berry. All on field at the same time. A great OC would be drooling over that running attack

If you want to play what if...

What if we had Dobbs, Hurd and Kelly in the backfield with AK in the slot and Berry out wide as a WR?

Who the hell do you try to cover then?

If nobody gets open then you have both Hurd and Kelly in front of Dobbs blocking.

VFL...GBO!!!

I actually don't view AK as the "backup." QD I view as the first backup, but not AK.

Your idea looks better. So many weapons. An OC's dream

There's been a lot of discussion concerning which of the freshmen receivers might take over the slot position. Why is Karmara not being considered a viable option there? If CBJ's offense is predominantly a 1 RB set, then we really need to find a way to get Kamara and his elite skill set on the field when Hurd is in as that single RB IMHO.

Kamara has proven to have good hands and is very dangerous in space. Reminds me of a larger, faster, and better Pig Howard who was pretty effective when he wasn't in trouble. Kamara was underutilized in 2015 and we need to find more ways to use him without using less Hurd.

I see what you are getting at, and it makes sense.

However, if you give a RB more time in a WR role, does that not take opportunities away from receivers? A group most agree need more chances to shine in order to recruit top end talent to the position?

I want to see everyone get their chances. If the passing game takes a bigger step, it spreads opposing defenses, and gives Hurd and Kamara just a few more inches of running room. With their talent, those inches turn into big yards.

Kamara just need a small crease and there's a good chance he's getting 20 yards or more. He seems to have really good vision. The air game getting opened up would make our offense extremely dangerous.
