that Kiffin won't even consider playing him. Nobody expected the Vols to dominate this year. BUT everyone will expect some improvements by next year. Why not let Stephens play and possibly learn how to get better so next year he will be ready.

Crompton continually chokes under pressure.
Our swiss cheese oline didn't help but 3 ints will get you beat almost every time.

He's was 100% outplayed by a redshirt freshman. (Prince)

Edit Thread Stephens. Sorry so pissed I can't type.

I agree 100% Crompton can not handle pressure or make good choices. Stevens will be here next year Crompton won't play the future not the past.

Cromp does everything right in practices and scrimmage. But when the games on the line he folds like an old rusted lawn chair.

Spoken like a True fulmer supporter. thats what he always defended Crompton and Fumbling foster with... In practice they played well yadayadayada

think its more of once you go to Stephens there is no turning back.. its all Stephens whether he is good or bad because you cant go back to Crompton if you bench him...He wanted to see how Crompton would react with his back against the wall and he got to see what we all saw last year...DEER IN THE HEADLIGHTS

I hope youre right. Now Bring on Nick. Lamaison better tie his shoes and tighten his chin strap because he may be next.

I agree if you go with Stephens, then stick with him.

Personally I think Crompton has had enough chances.

I've never seen such a dysfunctional passing game for two years running. How can Crompton and Jones be totally clueless about not one but two plays on the last scrimmage--The WR running one route and the QB throwing to another? I'll say this, too, we have NOBODY who can get separation and get open--nobody. Even when we complete passes, it's barely, with good coverage. Pass protection was pretty bad on about half of our passing plays, maybe more. When that is OK, nobody is open; when on rare occasion a receiver gets open, Crompton throws a bad pass. It's a comedy of errors.

Yes, he is that bad. He couldn't beat out Crompton and that says everything.

quite a bit last year--and as I recall his numbers were better than Crompton's (completion percentage, for starters). Stephens would not play as bad as Crompton--that's not possible, man. He's also got more fire. Crompton just can't get it done. .

Completion percentage was worse. He had one good game last year and the rest sucked. He has had 3 years and 2 staffs to beat out Crompton and he hasn't.

I am not against him playing. I just don't think we have a savior QB on the roster. Stephens is more of the same.

Crompton beat out Stephens because of recruiting. Kiffin is trying to entice recruits with early playing time. Crompton looked good in practice because he was familiar with the system and was recruited by Kiffin at USC. Stephens may have won the job if it hadn't been fo the wrist injury. If he just takes sacks instead of staring down receivers, throws only 1 pick a game, and doesn't fumble the snap, then he is already better than Crompton. I think he could be a leader which JC is obviously not, based on his sideline behavior and post game comments.

Well, he could be, but the satement isn't inherently Fulmerite-istic. Crompton always HAS practiced like a very capable QB, has the physical tools, and looks prototypical on paper. He is also incapable of avoiding a melt down, the only thing he can throw is evrything he knows out the window everytime the coin is tossed, and CANNOT go through a progression and telegraphs every throw. Heck, on the LK show, Kiff was commenting on the little flat pass to Brown. He said Cromp did a good job of checking off....that they wanted to go deep and they had it covered. Well, if you watch that play closely, he was NOT trying to go long. He LOOKED long, but it was just perfunctory. He just FAKED like he was going long. He had ZERO EW he was going to throw to Brown on the play when it was called. His mind was made up b4 the snap. He had very little pressure and if he had wanted to go long he would have HAD to give it more time.
So, as someone else said, he is exactly what we knew he was. BUT, he is NOT the same player who shows up at practice.
