Is Mullen more attractive to recruits?

so you start with a question, implying you don't know the answer, and yet draw a conclusion that everybody will be better than us.

sounds like you've already convinced yourself what the answer is.

Pruitt is our coach! We all should get behind him. I will for sure! Jeremy build us a team we will be proud of. Go Jeremy! Go Vols!

Let's be unbiased. Do you guys really think Pruitt's going to be more attractive to a recruit vs. Mullen?

It's obvious he can't hold a candle vs. Saban or Smart but now we have to compete with Mullen too.

I see Georgia and Florida out recruiting us year after year.

No not year after year.

Mullen is dealing with a whole state full of good coaches now.

To answer the first question, Mullen is probably more attractive to offense and Pruitt more attractive for defense.

Defense wins championships

I wanted Mullen here. But, I believe Pruitt's upside can be as high if not higher. As for Recruiting, it looks like we'll be right there with Florida and Georgia. Though, let's wait to see his staff on this. Now, why are people looking for reasons to 'not' like this hire?

i find it funny that now we should be scared of mullen's recruiting prowess.....as opposed to when we were discussing him as a candidate here, it was pretty widely accepted by anyone that was against his hire, used his INABILITY to recruit as a mark against him.

many were convinced that if he was any good at recruiting he should have been hauling in top 15 classes at MSU.

lol.

now we have a guy that has won multiple recruiter of the year awards, and he all the sudden is 3rd fiddle in the east.

y'all need to make up your minds.:eek:lol:

Mullen will get elite recruits to UF because the school always attracts talent regardless of who the coach is much like UT. Butch signed some very highly rated guys on paper but failed to develop many of them. JP should have no trouble getting top rated guys, especially if he brings on some top notch assistants. Surely he and his staff can develop players better than Butch.

Well you never know about how he will be percieved tomorrow.

Today? At this moment? Yeah you are right. But I have never heard the guy talk yet. The thing that impressed me about Butch on day 1 was how he seemed like a guy who could sell the program. And that was spot on.

Get this past season here, and all the dog and pony show wreckage cleaned up. He might be able to attract recruits NEXT year. But trying to salvage this year's? I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Pruitt maybe more attractive in the short term as far as I can tell Mullen isn’t some great recruiter but when on field results and uf actually having a fun offense and solid quarterback play again factor in yea he might be do better but who knows

Nobody has a higher upside. We are in the cellar. There is no direction to go but up.

there's going to be a lot of "new" in the SEC near term. FL, TN, aTm and ARK all have new coaches.

i'm sure if you were going to rank them, it'd be hard not to put aTm #1, just for the cache of Jimbo Fisher. and i'm sure that will help them recruiting wise.

i think FL probably thinks they got a solid coach, but based on some of the reaction for Kelly and Frost, they probably think they missed out on something else. i think most are savvy enough to know that they got a good coach (i wouldn't have lost a wink of sleep had we been able to hire Mullen:thumbsup:).

i think TN fans are doing what we do. but at the end of the day, when you take all things in to consideration.....we got what looks like a REAL football coach again. should be more physical, should be able to upgrade the talent level--in the right spots--and bring a physical/tough style of play back. should also have a staff that has a definite SEC level feel to it vs. what we've had the past 10 years.

Arkansas, i think Chad Morris is better than advertised coach, and his roots in TX are a plus. i just can't help feel like that they're falling back in to an old pattern of feeling like they have to link themselves to TX talent. not sure how that pans out for them. they seem excited about a different style of play, even if not uber pumped for the "name" they got.

aTm, took the biggest swing. and that ball better leave the park........:eek:lol:

I never wanted Mullen here.

Still not upset that UF hired him.

I think it might be one of the most underwhelming hires of the year.

It's about the coaching...I'm here in Mizzou land and I can't recall a time when they had above a top 25 recruiting class....They just laid 50 points on our top 5 recruiting class with their 1st time head coach who used to be a DC.

Georgia is well-positioned given their location and great results this year. I see no reason why Pruitt won't be able to be recruit on an elite level. Given his track record I expect him to pull more talent than Mullen.

Pruitt has never been head coach at Tennessee. Mullen has never been head coach at Florida.

Who knows

I gotta say it is nice having somebody with 9 years head coaching exp in the SEC West tho esp after Muschamp and Mac

To me Mullen seems like a more proven James Franklin when Penn st hired him from Vandy
