When this guy was announced I thought like 80% percent of u all . butch hired another of his friends and can this guy still coach . But now I believe he was perfect for us . He is a QB and OLine guru and that is what we needed ! What do u all think of this hire now ?

Well he's the one we got so...

I'll decide once we see how we fare in games. I think he's doing the right things though.

I liked it from the beginning because of the players he's coached, both in the NFL and at Michigan. DeBord has the pedigree, and there was no transition for the players to make within the offensive system. Once the team is on the field, we'll know whether it was a good, great, or bad hire. Before that, it's all just conjecture.

Been a long time since he coached either one. Never heard anyone call DeBord a QB "guru" but maybe he is. I will check back on September 26 and let you know what I think.

As offensive coordinator at Michigan he was 52-11, 4-1 in post season. As head coach at Central Michigan he was 12-34. Looks like OC is where he needs to be.

I've been on board with DeBord since the first whispers about Butch favoring him. I have been, because I trust Butch's judgment. Still trust his judgment, and have had reason for reassurance over the past six months. Expect even more as we go through the season. Go Vols!

And as Alvin Kamara said in an interview the other day CMD has inserted some new offensive play packages where he and Hurd will be in the backfield at the same time and then there may some new wrinkles with JJ and RDAIV in the slot. Coach DeBord has also worked hard with JD to get his footing placements perfected so he can stretch the field...He is also working with coach Mahoney getting the OL in order to make sure blocking schemes are down pat which eliminates sacks and TFLs.

We should be in good hands...with CMD. :hi:

I hope we don't throw 10 wr screen passes like we have for the last couple of seasons. They rarely seemed to develop properly, and very few went for positive yards.

Time will tell...

But, won't take much to be better than what we've had the last several years...

In his post practice interviews...I must say...he's as soft spoken as a Methodist Preacher...

We'll see if he can bring any hell fire and brimstone...

The dude can coach O-L so thats what we need right now if he can coach this group to be decent, then i take my chances with him calling the game, if we can score 2 8 to 30 points, we will win a lot of games our Defense will be one of the best by mid season wont be many teams out there that can hang 28 on our Defense.
