best defensive lineman ? The cat supposedly couldn't get on the field at USC. He is clearly the biggest guy on the D-Line (in pads) and seems to be all over the field. I haven't seen him have a breakout game or anything but the kid seems to be what we are looking for ! He is big enough to play inside in the SEC and fast enough to play outside anywhere.

If all are true then just how far behind are we in the Talent department ??? :eek:hmy:

I like him a lot. I kinda feel bad for him though choosing to come here...but I guess it beats playing at USC on probation.

He's prolly getting more exposure here than riding the pine at USC........... Although it is obvious he is a team player, he is prolly throwing his dream job down the toilet.(NFL)

I disagree on the NFL part. The NFL really doesn't care what team or conference you come from. They evaluate purely on talent. If you are good enough you will make it to the NFL whether or not you play at Alabama or South East Missouri State.

What if your a Stud DE and have to play DT to help your team....???? So many lost opportunities. Think average Tackle and above average End..... play after play for 12 games how many times could the DE explode and make plays or now just sit inside as a "body".

yep most good players they pay millions are from small schools in the League so that is a stupid point..Malik is probably the best d lineman so far with jaq smith and Hughes when he healthy.

He is actually helping his chances to make it to the NFL....Chuck Smith is coaching him for 1.....2 he is playing in the SEC on a team he knew he would start right off the bat and be on Nat'l T.V. every week.....and 3 he looks like a man amongst boys on our defensive line so it makes him stick out to scouts that much more.....smart move on his part IMO.

He played plenty at USC. Thats how bad our depth is,he is a very good end,but average and undersized at tackle. Most of our fans just need to take a two year nap!

He is around 40 pounds lighter than Hughes.

malik jackson our best dline? are yall crazy? watch the last 2 min of the lsu game on the play before we had 13 on the field. he got pushed back into the endzone and flatbacked. he is not even close to being the best. hughes is our best and g. williams is behind him

haha the same hughes that got started over by a walk on kid from mccallie.... come o n

Ayers gets Pancaked on every play. He might have good technique, but is simply lacking in size and power. He may be solid player down the road if he gain weight, He is listed at 262lbs It is painful to watch him get blown off the ball on every play. Hughes by the way had a bum ankle and played on Saturday night.

Montori Hughes is our only DT. We were counting on Marlon Walls, a beefed up Linebacker, Chase Nelson flunks out of School, John Brown couldn't pass course with tutor help apparently, and a reshirt freshman with a blownout knee that Kiffin recruited. Now we have Victor Thomas that couldn't get on the field in the last four years and a freshman 262 lb walk on. Malik was a good addition for numbers but is better suited on the edge. If we don't get at least two Junior college DT in this class we are going to be hurting next year too.

If you're good enough the NFL scouts will find you.

Not that it affects his NFL prospects, but we are not on national tv every week. I think we've got five on Espn.
