I was driving yesterday morning and ESPN radio was playing touchdown calls from around the nation. Of course each call was from the hometown radio voice ie Eli Gold for Bama, etc. I was impressed by almost all of the ones I heard. The sad part is when they play the Vols the voice you hear is Kesling.

Apparently you did not hear Randy Smith on the pay per view. I sure miss Bob Bell.

We were spoiled by John Ward, but yeah Kesling was a poor replacement. I used to turn the tv sound down too listen to John Ward. I can't listen to Kesling at all.

The emotion in his voice during a big play is so fake...I really wish they would have went in a different direction than boring Bob.

:lolabove: Me and a friend that got the pay per view swore up and down that Randy Smith had a stroke or something before the game. He was always 10 yards off with the distance of the field goals, called the wrong players names and one of our guys got tackled at almost the middle of the field and he thought he was out of bounds.

The problem with Mike Keith is that he sounds like an adolescent has hijacked the microphone, especially on big plays.

You know who would be a good play by play announcer I'd love to listen to? Mike Goldberg(does UFC, and Arizona Cardinals preseason games)

John Ward was the voice of the Volunteers and no one will replace him. I was spoiled growing up with him, didn't really appreciate his gift. I remember walking into Neyland and over half the people had headsets or radios just to listen to him. How many do you see now?

Kesling may not be that great but considering who he had to replace may have something to do with that. Maybe we Tennessee fans have been spoiled by the true voice of the Vols......John Ward was the greatest radio announcer in the history of college sports. There will never be anyone like him.

Take a listen to Auburns broadcast next week. Better to be bored to death than screeched at.

Did you see the play where Crompton completed a pass to somebody at the sideline and Kesling thought he had just thrown the pass away?

It's a shame we don't have a better person to represent the Vols on radio. There will never be another Anderson/Ward combo but there has to be something better than what we have. Nothing special at all about listening to the radio anymore.

no, he's not and it's not even close.

Watched the replay on sportsouth and BK made numerous errors. Pass is incomplete----no they say he caught it. I thought ------I counted appx 6 errors like that----and I wasn't really trying to spot 'em. Hardesty----the hard way-- pitiful.

And Priest----Brown needs to learn to stiff-arm the defender----the guy was BEHIND Bryce.
They both try to sound like they are from NY. This is the SOUTH----talk like the Tennessee boys you are! Liiiinnneee-backer------sheesh.
