Is Kelly's future worth being hurt?

I stay with, had we called Kelly's number 10 more times during the FL game, we'd have won, thus he is not being utilized to his full potential. To those that believe jones was a masterful SEC quality game-day coach during the FL game, well I feel sorry for you...

No one thinks that. But yeah he should of been given the ball in the red zone no doubt. But it can't be a one man show on offense.

What a weird title.. but in my opinion, run JK as much as he's willing. He's a warrior and probably gone after this year.

Kelly is a Great player-had his number been called 10 more times during the FL game, we'd have won-in spite of jones's poor coaching. We are sure to see Mr. Kelly playing on Sunday in the future, but the failure of jones and staff to utilize him (and other great players), I believe, is hurting the $$$$ they'll be able to get coming off the draft. Jones would actually look a real coach if he allowed great players to play. This goes to the heart of why we are where we are. Jones not only makes bone-headed calls during games, but fails to utilize our great talent. He costs us games with his poor game generalship, but he is also costing $$$ to the players that put 100% on the line for UT everyday in training and on game day. Just saying...

Personally if ANY player didn't want to play/play hard no matter who was the coach........I would much rather see them play anywhere else but at Tennessee.

Not exactly but kind of similar to a fan. I would like to see Butch gone, but you can bet I will be watching every game, hoping for a win every game, and never be like "hey if we just lose a bunch they will have to fire Butch."

Kelly is doing just fine, and his play and attitude will determine much of his future. Also the NFL can see what is done with say 150 carries vs say someone who had 250. Many times NFL teams like a guy with maybe just 2 years and 300 carries or less (as long as they have what the team wants and produced) as they feel they have more carries left in them.

Well, it sure didn't hurt AK in the draft and he didn't get a ton of work. Really he only got showcased for half a season. You're reaching bother..

Secondly, people need to stop speaking in definitive terms. No one on here disagrees that we should have ran the damn ball inside the 1 yard line. That has been beat to death, and I believe everyone here understands that. But to try and say we would have won or this would have happened... well, we just don't know. The percentages would certainly have been in our favor but nobody knows for sure. Last year if you would have given me LSU's offense inside the 5 with 4 power runs against FL to win a game I would have put all my money on LSU to punch it in and you know what.. I would have lost it all cause they didn't.

Last week is over. If you want to continue to dwell and pick it apart, just add to one of the 5000 other threads already going please.

IÂ’d like to see Kelly get the record. HeÂ’s the hardest running UT RB IÂ’ve seen in quite a while. I think he likes the contact with opposing defenses.

This is the most ridiculous thing ever. Kelly is killing it and was not very highly recruited. Seems like "lack of coaching" suddenly turned him into one of the best backs in the SEC with the most yardage.

Make sure you cheer for Tennessee tomorrow instead of wishing we lose so you can get your coaching change.

I always want the Vols to win.

But I myself want Butch gone.

The schedule will take care of that.

Watch for the LSU game to be a hot seat game between Butch and Ed Orgeron. Eds team will win. That will be the deciding game

It reminds me of Alvin Kamara a bit
He, Kelly, was so underutilized his first two years that I wouldn't be overly concerned with touches. Moving forward I would like to see our other backs used a bit to keep Kelly fresh.

A lot of ifs and buts........if he doesn't drop that TD pass, if he doesn't get the fifteen yd. penalty we win.

So, your premise here is that the head coach from The University of Tennessee should base his player rotation and utilization on their possible future draft selection? Is that what the NCAA has become--a NFL farm system? Sorry, in the words of the immortal Darryl Hall--I can't go for that..no.o.o..no can do.

Could we possibly ever get back to the time where student athletes are students who have the team in their mind first? Very few players make it in the NFL, but their college experience lasts for a lifetime.

So our staff is one of very, very few big-name schools to even look at Kelly. They see the potential, much to the dismay of the VN "3 star U" crowd, now he's a star running back being heralded across the country.
But they hurt his worth.

That's just ******* awesome.

The ugliness in some of the "so called" fans is just mind boggling right now.

He seems to be having a ball and shows NO remorse in his playing time at Tennessee. Actually, he is reaping great benefit from the way his playing time has played out. His best days are in front of him and his body has not been over worked. Running back is the most abused position in football and many have been over played during their college days and are busts in the NFL. JK has a small body structure and the wear and tear on his body can be a real problem for his future in the NFL. Look at Kamara"s first season in the NFL. Seems like his playing time With the VOLs in making him lots of money in the future.

Kelly is an awesome back.

Still baffles me that he wasn't ranked higher coming out of high school.

And to answer your question, CRG is a great running backs coach so it's not like he has poor coaching.

Now Butch being in the picture, thats a whole different story.

Without Butch being in the picture, Kelly is not a Vol. But continue taking a shot at Butch whenever possible

not after one loss where he could have won it had the coaches got their heads out their ass. He had a heck of a game, comparable to Kamara's game at A&M last year.

Hopefully we will see him in a good roll especially in the 4th quarter. This guy is special.

It baffles me why they went after this 3 star RB that the D1 Michigan schools backed out on. Everybody was trashing Butch etal for going to his home state and bringing in a lowly 3 star. Just another reason he should be fired cant do anything right.

Yep he is. Guess who noticed he was special and recruited him even though he was just a 3*?

So Kelley should quit the team to improve his draft stock?

Maybe by "limiting" JK touches they are ensuring he doesn't take too many hits and wind up on the injury list. I put limiting in quotes because 25 touches a game is serious work these days. I'm sure the NFL would prefer a guy that didn't get 35 carries a game in the SEC. Only so much wear and tear anyone can take.
