Is Jerod Mayo going pro?

Theres no telling with Ainge. I think he has the size and the arm to be a first rounder, but I'm not sure he's even performed up to a 1st day pick.

And Chris Donald, Ben Martin, Gerald Williams, Rae Sykes and D-Morley (maybe) going to have a nasty defense next year.

I can't wait to see them play. I hope they will stay out of trouble and work like heck to get better. If they do that it is going to be fun watching them fly around to the football in 2008.

Give these guys a little seasoing and we could have the best D ever!

Not counting those teams in the 30's... I'm not that old, but didn't we have a shutout season (minus the controversial 'bowl game').

I think if Mayo went pro after next year, and didnt have an injury.. and if he had great stats again.. they he will EASILY be a first day pick..
I personally think he has the athleticism to be an OLB.. and he's got the size at 6'2", 230-235.
He's also got the work ethic and motivation.. and Scouts are starting to look at that more and more as Work guys are starting to get more PT than guys with just athleticism

with all that said.. i think he could go in round 2.. that's my choice

Oh really? You think he's athletic enough to be an OLB? Really? That's where he's been the past two years. And he started there last year.

He had to move to the middle because the coaches wanted Rico on the field.

I think it was the 1939 team that went the entire regular season without giving up a point.

I think his best chances to be drafted will be at the MLB not at OLB. He reminds me a little bit of a Kirk Morrison... the way he moves around. Not great top end speed, but fast enough.

And about Ainge...

He will be criticized for his injuries, but he also played through them, and that should be valuable. You can play hurt, but not injured.

If he goes 3-0 in the rest of his college career, he will be first round. Guaranteed. It's in his hands though. Games like Vandy will hurt his stock badly though.

There is nothing he's done this year to warrant any team to make him a first round pick.

Actually, I think there is a lot there teams would value. He can manage a game well, and won't make stupid decisions. Say what you will about his mental runaways, but he has done those 2 things very well. He does have good size and his arm should be showcased well at the Combine. There are quite a few NFC teams that will be looking for QBs, and who knows how they'll draft... I would pity him if TB drafted him. Gruden would break his soul.

And Hefney will be lucky to go in the 2nd.

I think Mayo should come back for his senior year, and the things he should focus the most on are his coverage skills. NFL scouts are gonna pick that aspect of his game apart, because he's not that great at it.

Patrick Willis wasn't that great in coverage either, but he excelled at the senior bowl, took coaching well, then blazed through his pre-draft workouts.

I think Mayo has the better skill set to play OLB in the pros, but at this point I think he would get eaten alive by NFL TE's. He seems like he could be disruptive off the edge though. He blitzed well last year.

Gruden and about 31 other coaches...

Chicago needs a QB. Can you imagine the reaction the Bears fans would have if there is even a rumor of the Bears considering another injury proned QB? A QB that is similar in many ways to Grossman?

Mentally? Yes. At times.
Physically? Not at all.

I think he could be a good fit at several teams. Gruden is just the essence of a demon.

I don't think Ainge would have other things on his mind before a game like Grossman's exuse for losing to Green Bay....plus I think Ainge is a better QB than Grossman, but the Bears did let Chris Leak on the team...so who knows

They didn't waste a draft pick on Leak...

Even if Ainge was Manning incarnate, I wouldn't want him to go to Chitown. That place is a QBs burial ground. Honestly, unless he goes 3-0 and has a great combine, I think he'll go 2nd round to Carolina.
