Is Jabari Greer not proud of UT??

I'm from Jackson and remember watching Jabari play in high school. The guy just loves his hometown and represents it when he can. Even though he didn't say "University of Tennessee" he is still a VFL because of the way he played when he was there!

Did he graduate? Wasn't there some kinda issue where they can't say which college if they don't graduate or something like that? Actually, there would probably only be like 2 a game who mention their schools if that were the case.

there is no requirement about graduating. Some say their elementary/MS/HS/hometown and never get a thread on here. Of course if a former Vol mentions anything besides UT there must be some grand conspiracy

The people who spell their last name "GREER" as opposed to the correct way of spelling it "GREEAR" are the spawn of the devil.

I beg to differ. Jabari's not the first "former" Vol to snub his alma mater. Bet he remembers to cash those NFL checks, though.

more time in the bible and less time in volnation worrying about what another man doesnt say about his college= better life for everyone and a more enjoyable time reading relevant information pertaining to my only college football team. there are more important issues that need to be addressed in our Beautiful State and University. VFL and Christian For Eternity

Sensabaugh used to always says Dobyns-Bennett because he went to a couple different colleges. As a DB grad, I thought it was kinda cool.

Right you are. I severely overestimated your ability to carry on a conversation consisting of anything more than insults.

Your first mistake was not having him on ignore to start.

Jared Allen always says the damn culinary institute of america so let's consider ourselves lucky he mentioned Tennessee at all.

Was at Southside HS gym in Jackson the other day for a Volleyball game.

There is a big display case with a BUNCH of Greer stuff in it. I'm glad he's proud of his high school. I don't know, but I heard that he was a good kid.

By the way, "We whooped they a$$" in Volleyball.

who cares who they give shout outs to
im sure they love there hometown as much as there school. he spent 18 yrs in jackson 4 at UT.

I noticed that during tonight's saints vs packers game....all the players were saying their introductions on nbc by saying their name and the college they played for. Jabari was the only player who didnt say his college. Instead of saying University of Tennessee.... he said Jackson, TN...his hometown. Is he not proud of UT or what? He's obviously not a VFL.

He was not the only player to do this....I probably would do the same thing, how many time is Jackson, TN gonna be mentioned on national televison?? Remember a lot of these guys are just giving a shout out to the people back home.

Players often cite hometown, college, or highschool. The citation has nothing to do with the care or lack of care for their college. Greer could mean nothing or something by it. I think you are over-analyzing it. He may just be giving some love to his hometown, which is never represented. I would not be offended if the great one "THE PEYTON MANNING" cited his hometown periodically also. This does not show a lack of care for either the school or his hometown. In philosophical terms this is the called the fallacy of false dichotomy. Either Greer mentions TN and is a fan or mentions his hometown and is not a fan. You are placing to things at odds with each other that are not necessarily at odds with each other. Look at it in a syllogism:

1) All players must mention there college during the game or they are haters of their school
2) Greer mentioned Jackson,Tn as his hometown
3) Therefore Greer is a hater of his College

#1 is not necessarily true and therefore conclusion #3 is false. There are multiple other options that could occur and Greer still be the most adamant VFL. You also could use the same reasoning in regards to hometown. If a player mentions his college, he therefore is not a fan of his hometown. Both premises are fallcies. Sorry to go philosophical, but I think this thread is silly.

Not that I lose sleep over this but ...

Since the vast majority of players state their name and the university they attended I would assume that the TV producers are "suggesting" to the players that they give this response, therefore, I think it's somewhat disrespectful of the athelete to say things like "XYX High School", their hometown or anything else. It certainly makes me think that they think very little of the university that provided them with a free college education and provided them a stage to demonstrate their talents that they have leveraged into extremely high paying jobs and national exposure that 99.9999% of the folks in this country will never achieve.

Oh well ... even though Jabari doesn't appear to be proud of his Tennessee connection ... I'll still pull for him and the rest of the former Vol players.

Go Vols !!!
