Of course. That pathogen is quite evident these days. I think my problem is the sad illness of not taking games seriously enough to even pseudo-hate opponents. One of these days I may try resurrecting Ed Gein and get him to remedy my condition. For real, I hear you, I just don't seem to have that brand of hate in me. However, I do dislike gloating opposing fans but it is diluted with the fact I know I'd swell with such pride myself when our Vols give me reeason.

LSU is pretty easy to root for out of all the SEC schools besides Tennessee of course.

Hope they beat Clemson in the National Championship.

Needless to say, based on your scenario the SEC would never again receive a prestigious bowl game invite, would rarely be shown on television and they certainly would not have been able to negotiate contracts worth hundreds of millions of dollars annually from broadcast rights, etc.

His wish won't be granted, its never gonna happen and it doesn't matter who or what you "pull for" If it did Tennessee would be undefeated Every. Single. Year.. GEESH. Make a big deal of nothing why don't cha?

Guess I'm in the minority on this, but if I am hoping say, UF wins it's bowl game, I'm not dissing the Vols. I have been a Vol fan for decades, and me pulling for another SEC school will not change that...….....EVER. I don't like outside teams having the attitude that the SEC is just an over rated bully. I wanna show 'em that the SEC is the toughest conference. JMO IMO TIFWIW

Only time I pull for another SEC team is if they're playing OH State, MI or Notre Dame. Unless it's Bama then I'd pull for anyone over them.

The theory that it makes a difference in recruiting if the rest of the SEC field fades back to your level has never seemed to me to be valid. Plus, they are not going to help you out, i.e. the SEC is going to be tops every year, so you might as well embrace it and look at it as a tool to recruit -- show off your skills against the best players increases your odds of getting into the NFL.

Look at it this way, if you aren't at the top of the SEC, it likely means you have room for 4 and 5 star players to come in and get immediate playing time, versus sitting on the bench at a team that is already more loaded. It theoretically ought to be cyclical, but it isn't. The same teams get the best players year in and year out because those high school kids know that going to the Alabama's, LSU's, UGA's, and yes, I'll say it, the UF's, translates to a better chance to go pro than playing for an Arkansas, or a Vandy.

You are smack dab in the middle now, like it or not. Its going to take transforming players constituting average classes into NFL players. That's how its done.

It's hard for me to root for coach O. One when Kiffin took the job here at UT I met them at coaching convention and introduced myself to Coach O and he was a arrogant man and didn't care to say hi looking forward to coaching at UT ect. Then he tried to get our recruits to not go to class. But on the other hand Clemson we will go head to head more in recruiting. In tough situation.

Just to expand on this topic a little I am a little surprised at the hatred for the Buckeyes on Volnation. We have only played Ohio State once back in '96 and we won. No reason for bad blood. Is it just because their fans are so annoying?

That's part of it, the other part is they are OH State. A person shouldn't need anymore.

For me, mostly their fans thinking theyre the best, the Big 10 is the best, everyone else sucks, etc. All I do is point out that theyre 5-11 against the SEC and that the Big 10 has 30 (the SEC is 94-64 against the Big 10 last I checked) games to win in a row to catch up to the SEC. Then to throw in for good measure, i point out that Michigan is 14-9 against the SEC. That pisses them off pretty bad.
