Even with the QB change against NIU how are we really going to know if another QB is ready. I think it was a big boneheaded decision to not try a new one against a team that we will be able to tell how is going to do against a real defense with a real rushing attack. i think it is great we will someone different at the helm Saturday but in all reality I still think they are setting them up for failure because I know NIU's speed is not going to come close to what they are going to face in the upcoming games against Georgia and Bama. It's great practice but the coaches said JC does great in practice but can't carry it out on the field with him and I think NIU will be just another practice IMO

Well we have to do something..let the young ones take their lumps this really will be good practice for them.
Face it the seasons over so hopefully we can get these backups in tune to the offensive schemes, then they will be knowledgeable going into next season.

It is not necessarily a dream. That stuff happens almost every year in one league or another. In 2001 LSU was dead in the water at 1-3 in the conference and then played their way to an SEC championship. But they had a quarterback (Davey). After 40+ years of watching football I've concluded an intuitive thinking quarterback is the most important ingredient in a team. The physical skills don't have to be that exceptional.

would Craft be an example of that?

Apparantly only for one half all year. I was thinking more like Darryl Dickey. He made all the right decisions for most of one year (1985)

I think a lot of people would be happy to finish this season out with our heads held high. Who knows? If Stephens can do something on the field, maybe we can finish out with minimal losses. That'd be a great boost to everyone's morale.

I remember when Tony Robinson went down. I thought it was all over. The next game against Georgia Tech, we tied them 6-6 on a last second field goal by Reviez. After that, they took the reins off Dickey and they scored a ton of points the last few games of the season. If we could only have that kind of luck with our QB replacement this year.

We won't know if Stephens is ready but we should be able to tell if he's worse than Crompton. I think we should just go with Stephens this week and let him get a game under his belt before Georgia. I highly doubt that any other QB could be worse than JC.

thats exactly what im thinking. Its really a no brainer if you ask me. my hometown HS quaterback is better than jc.( completing 81% of passes 5 straight 275+yrd games) fyi....

What ya'll fail to realize had UT kicked a last second FG for the win.....CPF would have stuck with Crompton again this week!
