Is it time to start selling beer at the games?

So it's better to get hammered before the game rather than during? Both seem like a bad idea to me. If "true fans" could understand "moderation in all things" none of this would be an issue.

Correct however the current situation does not allow for moderation and facilitates binge drinking before the game

I will admit, this^ is a decent argument. My only reservation is that I don't believe alcohol is necessary on gameday. I drink when watching on TV, but not at the game. I don't want the trouble that may come with it.

No beer. I go to several games every year. I have yet to see a fight in the stadium. However, I have seen 3 walking to the stadium before the games. Alcohol was present at all 3. The profanity and behavior is bad enough without selling beer. You dont have to be drunk to be loud and intimadating to the opossing team and fans or I dont anyways. I wouldnt even consider talking my young boy to a game but I would like to before he enrolls for freshman year. I just wouldn't feel like a responsible parent exposing my child to that. The school may make some money selling beer but they will lose this season ticket holder. Go Vols.

Yes. They should also start selling funnels, beer taps, and those hats that you can attatch drinks to the side of. Good for the university in general IMO.

It would require a change in state law to make it happen. The TN General Assembly would have to pass through a special amendment, and I don't see that ever happening.

and the SEC rules too. I believe the SEC bans alcohol sales at any SEC team games.

You wont take your kid to a game because he may hear profanity? Good grief, kid is going to have major culture shock entering the real world.

whether you want sales of alcohol in the stadium or not, you're an idiot if you think the amount of problems from drunks would not increase.

a total and complete idiot.

How about frozen margarita machines at the concession stands, and hot UT coeds coming around selling shots of Jack or Patron?

Beer doesn't puke, cuss, or pick fights. People do. If someone abuses beer, there are appropriate laws to deal with that person.

They sold beer at the Liberty Bowl last year during the UT-MEM game. There were no problems that I saw.

Helps the gameday experience.

I think it would hurt the gameday experience. If you have to have a buzz to enjoy a football game, first of all seek help, secondly, it's easy as pie to sneak in an airplane bottle.
Last season I saw some drunk bastards ruining the game for a father and his son. The dad was too polite to push them down the stairs, but I'm not sure I'd be able to fight that urge when my son is old enough to go to a game.

How is that possible? They don't sell beer at the stadium

if sodexo is as good as serving beer as they do hot dogs. the'll be out by the end of the 1st quarter. yeah, they'll be charging about 10 dollars.

of course if hammy was still here, it would be about $12-15.

People pound them before and especially right before they go in knowing they are done drinking for a while. If they could buy inside, would cut back on the slamming and people wouldn't come into the games so hammered.

If they did serve beer, chances are they would only serve them in the first half, meaning people would pound beers during halftime konwing they can't drink in awhile...This solution does not resolve the "pounding drinks" problem.
