There must be a good balance between consumption taxes and income taxes.
To only tax consumption at a high rate is to more greatly penalize those of lower socio-economic status. But, it is good and necessary that consumption be taxed in order to make the underground economy (such as drug dealers, etc.) also pay its fair share.
I fully support income taxes, capital gains taxes, and inheritance taxes. We should contribute back to society in proportion to what we reap from it. There also should be no non-payers when it comes to income taxes, but it should be at a small rate for those who make very little.
What I think should be abolished are corporate taxes. Businesses don't pay taxes, but merely pass that cost to the consumer. Do away with taxes on business, but raise consumption, income, capital gains, and inheritance taxes.
I prefer a country with strong public education, a revolutionary public transportation system, and universal healthcare over a country with no income tax.
You could repeal everything after the Bill of Rights and still protect all citizens. All citizens should have been included in the original Bill of Rights.
Making Senators be elected by state legislatures would also be a good idea.
Interesting. I am in favor of a constitutional amendment that would set a personal income tax of 10% with zero deductions. And in order to vote for a national office, you MUST have paid something. That will never happen though. Inheritance taxes need to be completely abolished... those monies have already been taxed. Cap gains taxes affect way more people than Warren Buffet, so those should be no more than 15%. The .gov has to learn to live within its' means. That ain't gonna happen either though. Sadly. So keep working, and paying to keep the gravy train running for those that won't
As I said earlier, I believe the electoral college keeps people's voices closer to equal as far as presidential elections, however, if we had to go to popular vote in order to fall back to the bill of rights exclusively, that's a compromise I'd make.
The national sales tax would tax everybody at the same rate as well. But instead of taxing income, tax expenses. This will encourage people to save and in turn, restore our bank reserves. This would be the best thing for restoring our economy.
I don't have any problem with this either, but I still contend it must be constitutionally mandated in order to force the DC morons to live within the means without the ability to raise the rate to cover their arses.
Of course the libtards will have an aneurysm because they will claim it is "regressive".
