There is nothing wrong with it and it may cut down on lengthy discussions, rhetoric, and bashing.

Not the thread rating system apparently did not work.

Maybe a first.

I wouldn't care for a dislike button.

What I would like is the ability to archive post.

So if I am joking with someone about something 3 months away I wouldn't have to go search for it 3 months later.

3 months. Weak. I just revived a 7 year old thread for a joke. That was a pain to find!

Bump. Can there be a high visibility public vote on a dislike button?

Just because you may not like one post does not mean you dislike the poster, so simply ignoring the poster may be a little extreme.

Anyone who wants to vocalize their opinion can easily hit 'reply' and say, "I disagree, here's why-"

I see no negative impact to having a dislike button.

There's no reason for one, because in the end it will just be abused as the like button is. Plus you just explained why one isn't needed because as you said, you can reply and say "I disagree" and say why.

The like button serves no purpose because in the end you can't tell if someone actually likes what you're saying or if it's just buddies on here that automatically like what certain posters say.

I would do away with the like button, but if it's staying, I think the ability to undo your like needs to be added. I've accidently liked posts before that I didn't actually like.

Getting a lot of dislikes for a post would be a badge of honor for some. I'm talking to you - negavols

I think the number of "likes" would decrease immensely if there was a way to click on the # of likes tab to see who "liked" the post. My guess is a lot of alters would be revealed.

That too, I've always thought you should be able to see who likes what.
