to let the players listen to their music during major practices?

In all the practice videos I have watched, their is loud rap music playing....Is this just to make the players comfy? Are the coaches trying to bond more?

Seems strange....Maybe not....:dunno:

yeah........think they're trying to get players pumped up, and let them know they are on their level, too

You respect them, they respect you. You play the music that gets them going, you get the best out of them. Makes practice more physical, makes your job easier.

The status quo is out the door, we have a new regime. This is just a small facet that helps to refresh this program.

Kiffin took the numbers off of players jerseys because they didn't earn them. Not sure how you earn music before the season starts.

Take their Ipods away, and put in a safe, until they earn them back.......also take car keys, dorm keys, watches, jewelry, and backpacks away.......these things have to be earned........:eek:lol:

I thought I heard them say something on the news that it was just for warm ups and stretching but I may have been wrong or misunderstood them, personally, I think its great and whatever gets the kids amped up and ready to go out there and perform is good for them

What about the kids who hate rap? What if they want Nickelback or Saving Abel? LOL

when we're working out we usually listen to hard rock (nickelback, saving abel, shinedown etc.) and some up beat rap (50 cent, Dj Khaled, etc.)
something that gets you going

At my high school when we would work out for weight training classes (best class for credit ever? :D) it was almost always rap.

I'm not really a fan of rap, but you get used to it after a while.

Most of the stuff I like to listen to wouldn't really be good to listen to while working out. The beats in rap are faster and have a rhythm to them that kind of gets the adrenaline going.
That said, some hard rock is pretty good for the same purpose. Outside of the harder rock I listen to, the only thing I can think of with solid BPM (beats per minute) would be techno, but for some reason not as many Americans like that as our friends across the pond.

If someone took away toilet paper in return for respect i'd take a bullet for them

On numbers i thought it was just BRandon Warren who did it voluntarily as he didnt htink he deserved it

And on music i dont have a problem with it for the beginning of practice like warm ups and stretching something to get guys lose and pumped for practice but when practice starts i dont think anything should be played as it should be all busines (music soudned as if it had stopped when full practice was oging on)

In the video they were only listening to music when they were warming up and running sprints. I'm sure they weren't blasting rap music while they were actually being coached after warm-ups.

No beter way to get players pumped up and aggressive in a physically demanding sport than to play some rap. I got no problem. We just need it in the stands now to get the crowd hyped and throw all of the Journey/Steve Perry songs off the Pride of the Southland's playlist.

Rap music is just a gateway drug to cussing.

I don't mind rap playing at practices, as long as the players and coaches aren't using foul language.

I think I remember reading a while back that they could listen to rap unless they started slacking, then they lost that privilege.

Some good European or Asian Drum 'N Bass is great music to work out too.
