Well I can tell you one thing. All year we've blamed the OL and said well there's nowhere to run. Sure looked like Kamara and Kelly could find some space.
Man this place can really suck after a lose. On track to be the all time leading rusher and some think he has been a waste of a down? You should watch his highlights. Hurd is much better than Volnation is giving him credit for. Who is to say he wouldn't have had a big night against the Aggies? The oline played pretty good all game.
Exactly!!! Well, there goes my hopes of him staying for his senior year!!! You know he probably gets on here, along with most other players, and reads this crap! The lack of love and pure stupidity will cause him to declare early!!! And if he doesn't read it, you know his uncle will! SMH

Solid first post.I've never posted before, but felt the need here.
Hurd no doubt is a beast, and an awesome running back. In no way would I ever question his dedication or anything like that, and we all are grateful for his contributions.
However, almost every person I have talked to who watched the game saw the same thing. Kamara just looks better. He's got such speed and lateral movement that Hurd doesn't have. Hurd has looked slow this year or maybe he has been injured. The offensive line being atrocious also taken into account. But just the explosiveness of Kamara and Kelly is obvious.
Stating an opinion that one RB looks better right now doesn't make anyone a Hurd hater. He is the man and we all know it, and he should continue to play when healthy. But Kamara needs more touches period.

In 31 career games at Tennessee, Jalen has one game where he averaged 6.9 ypc and one where he averaged 7.6 ypc (only carried 14 times).
This is a very pertinent point.....Now apply it in reverse to Kamara's ONE GAME performance...
Do you think KAMARA would still have a 7 ypc average if he were responsible for carrying the LOAD of our rushing attack over a 31 game sample size?
I don't...statistically, the more rushing attempts a RB has--any RB--the LESS YPC he has...
Kamara has always had the advantage of fewer rushing attempts and fresh legs because he has NEVER had to be the workhorse of our running attack.
There is no doubt at all that Kamara has better acceleration and "shiftiness" to make guys miss...and Kamara's power is under-rated...
However--no one should assume that Kamara's great performance in one game against a subpar aTm defense would extrapolate to a better performance if he would have the same number of rushing attempts over 31 games as Hurd....
That's all I'm saying....and that we really could've used Jalen in that aTm game....and yes, I do believe he could've provided us with a winning edge in the game...
GO VOLS!

Why couldn't Kamara handle the load? Everyone thinks he's some little ole scat back, he goes 5'10 215 or so and is the same size as Dalvin cook who carries the load for FSU.

2015 and 2016 (to date).....in the same offense, same coaches, same OL.....
Hurd - 407 touches, 1,964 yds, 4.8 avg, 18 td
AK- 217 touches, 1,534 tds, 7.1 avg, 15 td
Look, I'm in no way trying to disparage Jalen, he's a stud and a central figure to our offense. I'm not arguing his role should be significantly diminished and I'm certainly not saying he shouldn't start or, GOD forbid, be benched. So don't get it twisted.
I'm just continuing my argument from last year and the off-season. Alvin Kamara needs to be a much, much bigger part of this offense. The fact that he got 6 carries to Hurd's 28 vs App State and 3 carries to Hurd's 22 vs Va Tech is utterly ridiculous.
IMHO and what I believe is an informed opinion, the split between those 2 should be much closer to 50/50...not 85% in favor of Hurd. We have two outstanding, future NFL rbs and we need to exploit the full, very different skill sets of both.
