Is Fulmer really mad/hurt?

Honestly, who really cares what Fulmer thinks? I respect him as a coach and appreciate him winning an National Championship in 1998 but his opinion shouldn't define if Currie was a bad hire or not. Tennessee gave him plenty of chances but eventually got himself fired due to his own actions. Lazy recruiting, losing games he shouldn't have, etc..

Fulmer has a chance to really make things difficult which will ultimately hurt UT. Hopefully he is smart enough to realize that and just enjoy all that UT gave him while wishing the admin well. I have my ideas which way it will go though

That was my guess, I'm glad you said as much.

It's weird, we have as many threads and probably more posts about Fulmer, than we have about the guy we actually hired.

I think I'm the only one that's interested and had decided, after mentioning it 2-3 times yesterday I would drop it. Since you're here, I'll ask you. Have you heard anything at all about what Peyton thinks about all or any of this?

I have read countless posts on VolNation about Fulmer being mad and upset that he didn't get the AD job? Where are people getting this information?

How was Fulmer ever a legitimate candidate with absolutely zero administrative experience?

I wanted Fulmer to be hired by Blackburn (had Blackburn been hired), in an assistant AD capacity.

How do we know that Fulmer isn't very happy with this hire? He worked with Fulmer before. How do we know they don't already have a great relationship?

If what is posted concerning "coach" Fulmer's involvement is true, then being mad about the situation has some merit. Being hurt?? He is a big boy live with it.
As for being hurt, being let go and how being let go as HC? Now that would hurt!!

If he is, he needs to get over it. Everyone acts like we owe Fulmer anything he wants. I'm a fan of his and always have been but it was his own fault he got complacent. It is not his university and he is not entitled to an administrative job because he won a NC.

I got my undergrad at The Citadel - I support my dogs...always!. The school is too small and has a different mission (at least used to) to be competitive in major college sports.

Have a masters from Oklahoma, but I am not a sooner, nor fan. Just got my masters from the school because they had a program I was interested in at the time.

Became a VOL football fan in the late 80's for various reasons...no school affiliation, but still an ardent fan.

Don't think he's hurt because he felt entitled.it sounds like the dumb add university asked him to be interested in the job and then used him as window dressing.pretty disrespectful vet also par for the course with the UT administration.

I'm a UT grad. I go back to '65. I bleed orange as well. Doesn't make me qualified for the job. Coaching is one thing, but running a power 5 athletic department is just a bit more involved than 'crutin and coachin' 18-22 year olds. Appreciate PF and all he's done, but this is not a time for good old boy politics and favors. This is business...big business.

Instead of being a smartass, I'll be straight.

It's my understanding Peyton was on the committee, along with Haslam.

It's also my understanding that their two votes were supposedly the two biggest.

I have a lot of respect for Peyton, not just as a football player but as a person. I have respect for his father and just the family in general.

Peyton has done a lot for the University financially. In my opinion, he has as much sense as anyone else in Knoxville that has any involvement with the athletic department.

It's not life or death that I know. It's a message board. With some of the other things that get posted on here, I don't understand why it fawkin matters that I'm just curious about it.

That okay with you?

It is amazing to me that the same posters who complain about hiring a football coach from a mid level conference gets mad when they hire a more qualified AD. Some people would complain no matter what.
