Is Fulmer and Clawson really to blame?

We all recognize that the time span of HC's these days are shrinking - either b/c of a higher paying job elsewhere or fan/administration discontent. Acknowledging this, what blame should be placed on Fulmer and Clawson?

Our D-Line is playing much better than we had anticipated. Our Wr's are playing well (meaning that they are getting open even against a great Auburn secondary), we are utilizing our skill players the best we can, our back-up punter has finally seemed to get it together, our secondary has only played one bad half in 4 games.

My point is that for whatever reason, Crompton has underachieved significantly. Fulmer nor Clawson can be responsible for the botched hand-offs. Yes, I think Clawson's play calling at times can be moronic, but I also thought that way with Cutcliffe. The truth is that our WR's are getting open, Foster and Hardesty are both running well, etc.

I am not yet ready to place the blame on Fulmer or Clawson, but rather on Crompton. Sure, they could have pulled him and put in Stephens or Coleman, but that is a gut instinct on who is the best of the bad QB's, haha. There were plenty of times that the "experts" on here wanted us to bench Ainge and put Crompton in....

YES, THEY ARE TO BLAME! If Crompton was 100% responsible, he wouldn't be on the field. Clawson should be applying a game plan that applies to Crompton. If it doesn't work (which it doesn't), yank his butt off the field.

My blame equation: 40% Crompton + 25% Clawson + 35% Phil= 100% Bad team :(

Don't blame coach Fulmer its Crompton's fault. He looks like Donovan Mcnabb at practice but under the gun he flounders...look for a slow transition to the backups..Coach knows that this kid could lead to his demise..

Out of his league? Maybe, but I would like to see the offense with personnel actually able to implement the playbook. You have to be able to throw the football successfully to run in the SEC...and vice versa. I would say that 67 yards passing with receivers that are open is not the fault of the coach or the scheme.

My guess is Fulmer makes the call on who starts at QB. So I will blame him.

Clawson doesn't look too swift yet but I hesitate to criticize him on the basis that I believe he may be getting saddled with Crompton and not have any choice in the matter.

There have been receivers running wide open in every game but the QB can't get the ball to them. He's had to cut the playbook way down and it still looks like it's working. I don't see there's any way to put this on Clawson

I don't think it matters who is the QB this year. I agree that if Stephens or BJ can't separate themselves from JC enough then we're pretty much stuck with crap for QB. Even the best OC around couldn't do much better given the limitations

I agree.

That is why I cannot blame Clawson too much at this point. No offense is going to work with JC running it.

I like Clawson's offense (what I get to see). In an interview a couple weeks ago Jayson Swain even stated how different it looks with the formations, motion, etc. I just wish he had a guy to run it

The only person to blame here, is Crompton for sucking and having too big of an ego to realize it, and Fulmer letting it go on as long as he has. It doesn't matter what system you run or who the OC is, if the QB who is the center of the offense is terrible, it will not work.

how do you blame a kid for not being very good? All the blame goes to whoever put him in the game

Huh? What scholarship athlete is going to voluntarily give up his job as starting QB? It is Fulmer's fault for continuing to put him in the game.

If I remember right, had Cutcliff stayed, Crompton was not going to get the starting role because he had not progressed reading coverages. I thought coach Cut was wrong, but I guess I was.

I didnt' say he should tell them to take him out, no athlete is going to do that. But for someone that sucks as bad as he does, he seems extremely cocky in interviews. I really believe the kid thinks he's the next Joe Montana. He better improve and quick, if thats the case.

He is probably just some immature kid that is watching his dreams of being a big time QB evaporate in a matter of weeks. I don't care how cocky he acts, the blame is on Fulmer. No player tries to suck.
