At this point in his career do you think Phillip Fulmer will be a first ballot Hall of Famer?

I heard this on the radio today and I was curious what everyone else thought.

Probably a borderline candidate right now . . . needs to win a couple more conference titles to seal the deal.

This story sure has changed since 2004.

Complacency and an unwillingness to adapt sunk those chances.

I would say yes for sure. Most of the people that wanted him gone will say no but I think 4 or 5 years down the road when they look at the big picture of what Fulmer accomplished over 17 years and not just what he did over last 4 they will change their minds.

I say no. His performance after the "big season" reminded me of a snow ball rolling down a long hill. When it smashed into the resort all hell broke loose.

If he had listened to Vicky after '98 absolutely. Now he should be happy with just being a HOFer on some ballot.

Without the talent Johnny Majors help bring here, this thread wouldn't exist. There are a few things that I can say now and not doubt what I am saying, and Fulmer being a good recruiter isn't one of them. Seeing some of his players he recruited in the past 6 years wash out, never pan out, fail multiple drug tests, and fail out of school makes me realize that there was no staple for years. We had NFL talent here that's for sure, but knowing how much came through here and how little we accomplished is almost appauling.

if he had retired after 01 (no reason to really), 04, or 07, he would still be very well regarded by most fans... now not so much

Not sure how a guy who's probably recruited more current NFLers than any other college coach isn't a good recruiter.

It all depends really on who votes for the HOF. If it's fellow coaches, he's first ballot.

presently it's hard to say. if this question was asked in the late 90's/early 2000's i would have almost definitely said yes. i will say that him being here 16 years and only winning 2 sec championships is a huge drawback for him

Winning 1 SEC Title and 1 National Title in 17 years, doesn't exactly scream 1st ballot HoF to me.
