Is Fulmer a first Ballot HOFer

I would say yes for sure. Most of the people that wanted him gone will say no but I think 4 or 5 years down the road when they look at the big picture of what Fulmer accomplished over 17 years and not just what he did over last 4 they will change their minds.
It will take about 17 more years for me to reach that point...

Maybe not first ballot, but he'll make it easily, and not too long after he is eligible. Look at the records of some of the guys that are in the College Football Hall of Fame. Fulmer is way, way above that standard. The only way a coach wouldn't get in with a record of 152-52 would be if he 1) got a team put on the death penalty; or 2) turned into O.J. Simpson before he could be voted in.

We never got the death penalty and Fulmer doesn't strike me as the murdering type, so...

Without the talent Johnny Majors help bring here, this thread wouldn't exist. There are a few things that I can say now and not doubt what I am saying, and Fulmer being a good recruiter isn't one of them. Seeing some of his players he recruited in the past 6 years wash out, never pan out, fail multiple drug tests, and fail out of school makes me realize that there was no staple for years. We had NFL talent here that's for sure, but knowing how much came through here and how little we accomplished is almost appauling.

exactly how many players were left over from Majors leaving when we won a NC in '98..

Trust me when I say a former coach has influence on a team even if they aren't on the sidelines. Lane is going to find that out as well. He may not have recruited them, but I guarantee you that the players knew the tradition that he helped to build over the years. Notice that LSU is still pretty prominent after Satan left there as well and how Miles is showing that he isn't half the coach that he has been made out to be. I know there has been staff turnover down there, but talent can easily make up for that. Miles is Larry Coker part deux.

Yes.

He is for the most part well respected nationally. With many connections form all over the country. Both in the media and within the football community.

It's kind of a moot point for the next 2 1/2 years. You have to be retired for 3 years to be considered.Other than that he meets the required criteria.

It was Fulmer's recruiting that got Johnny Majors his best teams.

I'll never have any use for Majors. Anyone who can still be a crybaby after nearly twenty years is just a crybaby, screw him.

Not an HOF factor but Fulmer owes the NC, not to his great coaching, but to the Stoerner fumble miscue.

No it was the Ratliff rush that caused the fumble, and if the officials had made the correct call, we would have had the ball on the five and scored then and have had the lead.

of course he's going to make it, he's more of a first ballot lock for the Krystal's Hall of Fame than any other individual in recent history.

Exactly the same way that Urban Meyer owes his 2006 NC to J.T. Mapu's savage blow to the helmet of Chris Leak. If Fulmer's coaching wasn't a factor in the close/miraculous wins, then how could it be a factor in the close/miraculous losses?

Probably a borderline candidate right now . . . needs to win a couple more conference titles to seal the deal.

I will agree to that. I think they will watch what happens at UT for the next 3 to 4 years to see what happens now that he is gone, getting a total picture kind of thing...you know...before, during, and after before they try and vote him in.
