They'll still be good (9-10 wins), but them taking the SECE every year and going to a NCG every couple of years is over. Bama has caught up and passed UF. UT is showing signs of catching up, and quick. FSU's future is very closely intertwined with UF's. If FSU does well, UF will have a tougher time winning recruits from FSU, Miami, UT, Bama, LSU, etc.
3-4 years ago their dominance of the Florida recruiting game was without contention. All of these things will play a factor in their downturn. Again, they will still be one of the SEC and the NCAA's elite schools, but their uncontested reign over the SEC and NCAA is over with.
It still won't be remotely close to the past 4 years.Yeah, it is over (hopefully).
They will always be good because of the recruiting hotbed that is Florida, but I don't think they will be dominating the SEC like they have since Urban has been there.
Like I said, they are still going to be good. I don't think there is any doubt about that, but winning the SEC and playing for the national championship every other year is hopefully not in their cards. The Vols are on the rise to contend for the east and if they do happen to win the east they will still have to get past bammer (or whoever wins the west).
They already took a step back this year after losing their OC, Harvin and Louis Murphy. Now they lose their long time DC, Jesus, Spikes and a lot of others, not to mention CUM's status being in limbo.
I don't see how they don't take another step back after all these losses.
If Urban is still around for a few years he will have them back, but for now their run is over. They could very likely start another run in a few years.
Next year they have to play Bama and LSU from the west. I think they will have at least 3 losses next year.
Urban Meyer has always been a great coach, but I don't think things will be the same. Florida's offense completely dropped off without Harvin and Mullen this year, even with what some consider to be one of college football's greatest players leading the way. Now Strong is gone as well. They have talent coming in, but they still lose a whole bunch of talent, and I'm not sure the new guys will be as good. Add that to the fact that Meyer will likely never be the same. Recruits won't be sure how long he'll be here, and I don't think he'll be able to coach as well with concerns for his health. I think that next year the East is wide open, then after that it's Kiffin vs Saban.
Vague question.
Barring something like a multi-year NCAA probation with post-season and TV bans, UF will always be able to hire a great coach and attract great players. UF can field a top five recruiting class every year totally made up of in-state players.
