It may be because I'm here in Ktown where I'm bombarded by all new concerning the Vols, but I've never seen so much excitement around the hiring of assistant coaches. It appears that each new hire and everyone being considered for hire has the ability to be recruiting coordinator as well as OC or DC. It seems like CLK is combing through the staffs of the NFL as well as the SEC and sending shock waves throughout the conference. If this turns out to be successful, how long before the rest of the SEC elite follow suit?

My only concern is with this many high-profile assistants, how long will he be able to keep the staff together?

Quite possibly...

If these guys are successful, that means that they will be highly sought after. I would rather have coaches on our staff that other people desire than to have a staff that only has one or two members that are wanted (Cutcliffe, Chavis and Trooper Taylor).

Let's hope long enough to teach our younger coaches their skills. That way there's not too much a drop off. Look at Parcells and Billichek....just keep reloading coaches.

If you build a sucessful program, the players will grow to the NFL, but the coaches should also grow into better jobs. As long as you do not lose too many at one time, you can keep the continuity going.

According to everyone other than Vols fans, this is an awful staff. It makes me laugh when I think how much a$$ we will be kickin' in a few years.

Pete Carroll took Kiffin under his wing and showed him how to run a collegeprogram, and it looks like he was listening. You bring in coaches with a good football mind and let them bring in staff that they trust and believe in and can mold to take their place if/ when they leave....... Works for Carroll :crossfingers:

If it is successful then you can count on it... probably followed by some type of NCAA imposed salary cap for coaching staffs to promote parity.

When the rule was unlimited scholarships, only a few programs could truly compete. If buying the best coaches becomes the rule for big, rich programs then the same thing will happen.

The gap between the haves and have nots will be bigger than ever since the best players will probably follow the best coaches.

I wonder if the players that showed their tailends at FCPF press conferance are still upset? These guys have a wealth of knowledge about the next level coming to them. Coach Kif has put together an all star team and I, for one, am excited about next September.

The thing is we are really not spending too much money.
Think about it:

Lane Kiffin 2M
Monte Kiffin 1M
Yaw Yaw 650K

Nick Satan 4M

We got three damn fine coaches cheaper than Bama paid for one TURD!!

I hate to say it, but Bama was 1 win away from The playing in The BCS National Championship.

I don't see a comparison here. CLK and company had nothing to do with the firing of Fulmer, so no player should be harboring ill will. It is what it is now, time to move on and play ball.

Yeah they sure did maul the Utes.
Yeah...watching the Sugar Bowl was reminiscent of the judge (Fred Gwynne) when he asked Joe Pesci to explain about the "two Utes". How long before the Rammer Jammer crowd will recuperate from this butt-whoopin'? Y'all wanted the big stage; be careful what you wish for. GO VOLS!

I don't know how long they will stay together...maybe a couple of years. I sure do hope we can enjoy it while they are together
